    Hey guys still looking at the 1kz engines just looking for some more information what do you guys think I should look for im hoping to get one around the 260,000 mark less would be great but it seems that everytime I look at any lower the price is out of my range. There is one for sale currently that's in great condition fairly young only 2006 model but has 300,000 on the clock considering if I did get the one with 260 in a year it will have the same kilometres what should I be looking for guys. Is it acceptable to buy a car with 300,000 on the clock or am I going to have massive problems ??

    I've a good KZ-TE but a lot of folks don't give them regular oil changes so unless I know it's service history I'd be wary anything >300km's. Trying to do you a favour look at this: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...135#post463135

    Immaculate looking car. Jiace did a great rig build so you can see it all online. Cost appears to be your budget?? The V6's seem to be great engines so long as you don't tow regularly and do 'hard' off roading. RE the 1KZ, the 5 spd manual appears to mate better than the 4 spd auto and offers better economy so something to ponder there. Good luck.

      260 is ok, make sure it has a full service history. 10k oil changes is acceptable.
      You should be able to tell if its been looked after, talk about it with the owner.
      Find out if glow plugs were changed. It should not blow smoke if the air filter is clean. If it does it may have issues.
      Check engine coolant condition, it should be like red cordial if its clean. Radiator might have low leak at each side, it's common.
      It should be bone dry no oil leaks.
      Just make sure you are happy with the engine, it's the heart of the beast. The rest will be ok or maintenance.

        Awesome guys thanks its a dealership car and he's offering 5 years parts and labour warranty, just not sure I want to risk the kilometres

          Read the fine print on the warranty. Likely it will be limited per claim and capped per calendar year.

            Loom as,I have an 06 1kz and it has 18500 on the clock and still going strong.See how many d4d have that many ks.They may be a slightly slower but they go for ever.

              The one that you have shown is a petrol.Would be careful with the amount of ks.if it was a diesel that would not be a problem but a petrol it is a lot.

                Big Trev I'd put my money on a petrol 4L V6 doing more trouble free klms then the diesel. These V6 engines are doing an easy 500k plus without any major issues. Even the older 3.4 V6 were a great reliable engine also. Days of the old diesels doing half a million klms without any major issues are gone in my opinion. My old 2.8D lux did 300 plus trouble free and still going upto 400 now. Bet my life on it you won't get this out of a current diesel without some issues, some major...... Just my personal opinion...                   The simple answer is that they go further than the D4Ds. Just how far depends on your service regime. I'm at 200k and she is going strong. Doing injectors and plugs soon as a maintenance thing. Cleaning out the manifold and inlet too. As #### said, regular oil changes are a must. I try for 5000kms but with everything going on I usually do them at @6000-7000kms.

                    My 1kz has 230000 k's on it. Puffs a little oil smoke from the valve stem seals each morning but does not use any noticeable oil.

                    My 2c when looking to buy is to find one with a perfect body (if thats what you are into as thats what determines value down the track) and then once you find one that you like take it for a looooooooong drive. A good half hour at least. How does it drive. Does it drive sweet, does it feel tight?

                    If you like it then have the engine checked. For a 1kz pay to have a compression test done. If its within specs then it should be fine. Cost in a change of all oils and filters and go for it.
