    • Snagged myself a cheap brand new open sky awning off eBay. Installed it today with some brackets from bunnings and some t bolts from roof rack place. All up just under $150. From what I read open sky is decent quality awning. Just not 100% sure I like the 2.5m long version. Thinking I should have gotten a 2m so it doesn't stick out either end as much

      • Just topped up the tank before the Xmas rush on fuel. Put in 96L. But it hadn't switched over to the second tank...

        • Finished "carbonising" some of the silver trim.

Question, how do you get to the Parker light on an ARB Winch Bar?

From behind, you might need to remove the outer plate underneath the bullbar.

            • Mine has had some love over the last few days, in preparation for the drive to Kangaroo island.
Bought and fitted new fog lights to the bullbar, one was smashed, one was full of water, hopefully these new ones will go a bit better.
Removed drivers side headlight, as it also kept filling with water, ( yes I do a lot of river crossings) dried it out and found a hairline crack on the bottom. I'll give silicone a go before I replace it, even the aftermarket ones are $150...
Took off LHS bull bar Parker/indicator assembly- at some stage the wires had been torn out of the back of it, re soldered.
Removed both fuel tank guards panel beat them back to shape, gave a good spray of matt black, and refitted.
Removed the sheepskin car seat covers, washed and refitted.

Since I've had the BDG injectors in, I can't get over how smooth this thing is, and fuel use is seriously down, I've gone from a consistent 11.5 litres to 100km, and it looks like it will be low 10s or maybe even in the high 9 s. With 170k in the clock, I have never had a car still drive so well.

Ah nice. Thanks. How tight would those bolts that hold the plate be?

How long is a piece of string?

( actually a piece of string is exactly double the length from the middle to one end )

                    • Finally fitted the drawers. Not perfect, but things should stay in place out on the tracks now.

                            • Are you happy with the fit of the Tjm bar snaga? Doesn't look like it lines up very well with the guards and has about 50 mm of gap between bar and guard

                              • 5k interval oil change with Castrol Magnetec 15w40. Hardest part was trying to cut a hole to attach the tap that the 10L tub comes with. They don't make it easy, but I got there in the end!

Wouldn't mind taking off the sump and checking/cleaning the oil sump pickup next time. Can anyone tell me if this is as easy as the oil change itself and if I would need any specialised tools above and beyond what one would use to do the oil change?

Also, looking for a mechanically minded soul with a bit of experience to help me with a few things on the Prado (diff oil change etc) in the Perth region. Sick of paying workshop prices and want to learn the ropes myself. If you're interested let me know.
