    • Just dropped the Prado off for a service. Going through the book it hasn't been serviced very well at all. Only once a year and skipped all the 5k interval services. Belts are pretty shot and Timing wasn't done either. Gonna rip the top off and see how gunked up it is inside too.
Hopefully will be like a new one when I get it back although SWMBO will chuck the shits at the bill. Yay
      Cheers

      • Had the exhaust gasket between the extractors and cat replaced again (3rd time) with 2 gaskets on top of each other. The others kept leaking and making ticking/knocking noises under load.

There are no scheduled 5000k services. Toyota dealers don't always fill in the service book when the work is carried out. I found that out at Goldfields where I had to present the book to be stamped each time. They claim that their computer records are good enough - yes, until you go somewhere else for a service. Is your timing belt light on?

Yeah even if it's just oil and filter. The car really mustn't have been driven much. Some of the service intervals in the book were over 12 months apart. It's an 04 btw Bushy even though it's only done 139k it's well past the 90 months for the timing.
                Cheers

To all the D4D owners - would the number relate to your engine # or vin # perhaps ???

Or perhaps 55 or 82 indicates the number of thousand km you have to do before you replace injectors - sorry a V6 owner joke!!

Never realised the 90l goes off - must not be wealthy
Haha gotta be careful Kimbo, some of the d4d owners get upset when you point that out!

                  • Just picked her up from the 100,000 service. Sump pick up had a tiny little bit of sludge in the corner, now all cleaned. Happy days

Engine air filter looked like a sandpit. Not so happy!

                              • A few shots of the mostly finished rear shelf unit. a couple more bits of internal carpet to glue on plus some appearance work on the side mounts.
Final cost was close to $300. Suits my purposes and an improvement in design over my old one in the 90.
