Thks AJ, yes it was your post that inspired me mate, great idea.

Steve, a word of advise be sure to mount the bracket as high as you can as room is at a premium. I shaved a little off the top of the plastic housing with a grinding wheel and also folded the pins at the back of the plugs in order to clear the panel at the back.

    Regards

Lucky bugga. Always good to get away with the cook for quality time. Probably won't need to refill till Geraldton on return.

Yes good to get out of town and see water again. We live in Paraburdoo so get home without having to fuel up on way.

              • Finally got a chance to fit a button to start the rig off the 2nd battery if the main is flat.

When I got the Redarc system installed the Auto elec said you want a button on the dash to push in case you get a flat and need to start off the 2nd. He did say if not you can pop the bonnet and touch the tail wire on the pole of the 2nd battery and hit the key. I said mate I haven't had a flat in years so not worth it. Well Murphy was there that day and since then I have had 4 flats in like 6 months. The kids don't shut the doors properly and the door lights stay on all night or during the day. Or I forgot the door lights when packing for the last trip and had them open for most the day. Finally got in the car to go with kids screaming and missus saying hurry up and hit the key - clik-clik-clik.

So I fitted the button today so no need to worry or leave the captains chair just push the button and hit the key.

Looks neat. According to Murphy's law you shouldn't have any more flat batteries.

                  Cheers

                  • Changed the bonnet struts and fuel filter, then gave her a bath and a polish. I noticed a lot more stone chips on the bonnet than last time I washed her.

If I ever get around to a respray, that would be a good excuse to install a scoop.

Tomorrow it's an oil and filter change and rotate 5 wheels. Geez that 5000kms seemed to go quick.

                    • Hahaha thanks mate. The straw that broke the back was the missus calling me when I was away and me talking her through holding the wire under the bonnet on the pole to flick the 2nd battery in whilst my oldest boy started the car.

Murphy has got me many times.

                      • Bit of maintenance today - secured my 7db mobile aerial properly (added a second washer and locktighted it), plumbed in the cable into the dash. Replaced the drivers door checkstrap. Took more effort to take the panel off the door, than to change the checkstrap! On the plus side though, the window goes up an down without binding now.

I was going to mount my rubber splash panels on the driver's side, but I bought too small push pins...

And I've started making my bracket for the mobile phone for said aerial.
