  • just spend the better part of the day trying to get all the mud out of the car after coming back from the simpson
car was realy clean till we got forced to go to William Creek then to Coober Pedy to get home from Marree
the last 40km put the most amount of mud and slush onto into & over & under & through everything, but the Prado kept on ticking, the Ranger that came with us to the hwy wasn't so lucky, went to limp mode 30km before the hwy

        • Sealed up the roof rack bolts after finding the passenger side seatbelt soaked after the recent rains.

With a little persuasion. My apprentice complained a fair bit about too much weight in the car compressing the space between the top of the bags and the body. Anyway, he finally got the top clip out after I removed the remote reservoirs on the shocks and we came in from the side. Also slightly jacked the body up from the sub frame so his dainty engineers fingers had more space. (I am very grateful for his efforts btw)

would like to been a fly on the wall when you tried to get them out if we didn't find/fix those little welds hey !!
We still had to dremel off some weld dags. Warning to anyone fixing airbags to stop them popping out - WELDING IS A DUMB OPTION!!!!!! Use the r-clip or other methods only. Anyway there is now a set of AMTS spacers in there too so they act as retainers.

Welding is a pita right! We have had large split pins tear off, also 4mm dia R clips rip through.
Also airbags fly out with the spacers, due to height & extension.
Also if you do secure bottom well, the top can pull down, busts clip out & rips line off.
So, now find best option to limit travel to not more than 10mm on stock, tweak rear sensor 20-30mm.
This has been the most reliable. Use high option when required.
Lift front only 40mm, so rake is reduced, but plenty of clearance & RELIABLE (fingers crossed).
                  790mm front & 800-810mm rear. 840-860 on high which us a 3" lift.

                        • Traded my 2005 120 VX petrol in for a new 150GX diesel. It was a great car and travelled most of the main outback tracks in the country in a totally trouble free manner. 150000 trouble free kms over the 8 years that I had it. No cracked guards or sunken engine mounts.

                            • After 8 years you have to know when to hold them, know when to fold them , know when to walk away, as the old song said.Time for a change and so far it appears to be for the better as a new car vs. a 10 year old one should be,This GX is at least as well appointed as the 10 year old VX was.

                              • I went to wash the car but the wife said don't. Looking confused she had to tell me she was planning a secret outting tomorrow (aka, don't wash it as it's going to be dirty again).
