Dropped it of for a pre Simpson inspection at a well known specialist in Sydney...

New front brake rotors - (Which I knew I needed)
Crushed Gearbox mount
Front suspension bushes going or gone, both top mounts also need doing
Swaybars too..

Suggested replacing skid plates because they're so mangled... I'll leave this one for a while

130,000km
29,000ish on the bottom bushes so it's a warranty job (just). Looks like the top strut mounts are the original ones.

It's about time the old girl has some TLC & I don't really want issues in the middle of the Simpson. I'd rather not test out my insurance policy's recovery clause ��

Been away from the Prado a while so today I have given her a service. Changed the engine and diff oils, and fitted the rest of my bushskinz plates. Chiseling that front diff drain plug was fun. Good thing I got that tool and replacement plug from eBay. Next week, changing all the filters.

my car has some but the more we use it the less i am noticing it
but the racing caravan stinks !!, have left the door open every day for the last week and that smoke smell just wont go !!

Not today but actually last week I put a new dash cam in with rear cam.
Just an Ebay job but does ok. Ran the cable through the roof, into the back door and screwed the cam to the top of the plastic.

I got 2 cam's as I bought a new 1 for my Jazz as well.
It has a cable on the rear cam that you connect to the reverse lights so the rear cam goes full screen automatically when reversing so you can use it as a cheap small reversing camera as well. Menu system is fast. Quality isn't bad but not as good for moving objects like the much higher prices cams like BlackVue.

Should have smelt mine after using it out at the Pinery bushfires.... Even my garage smelt like fire for 3 weeks.. I gave the car a really good wash, and went to a OTR (Servo chain in SA) that has the wash Bays. Used some of the bubblegum smelling soap you could choose on the spray gun selector. Smell gone after that! A week later the lolly smell went too!

Well after a 5 week on the 120 she finally has a new heart, I had a little issue with water / mud coming in through the intake in the NT back in June and having to be towed and trucked back to WA.
Finally after all this time she has been returned with a low km's secondhand complete engine along with all the fluids etc been changed and serviced. Next is a snorkel before getting back out into the outback.

can't wait!

Loaded the Prado up tonight for a few days on Fraser. The back seat is heavily laden with firewood in preparedness for a few drinking sessions around the fire...
