  • Brake Feel.

Can anyone help me. I have a 120 which for some time has what I thought was a warped rotor because on braking in would seem to hold and release the rotor. I have replaced all four rotors and pads. The problem is still there. I am not convinced it is a rotor issue as there is no feel through the brake pedal and it is not consistent, that is, it is not always there or it varies in intensity. My son, who is a mechanic though an auto transmission specialist, suggested it might be an ABS problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Stuart.

Just put new Coopers all round. Tried some heavy braking last night and it seems to help. The sticky caliper piston thought is worth checking. Thanks.

Had it from 2008. No prangs. I would imagine a bent stub axle would give the problem all the time and it often doesn't do it and when it does some times worse than others.

120's often have problems with sticky pistons in the calipers , particularly if they have been in water . They have updated the seals for the pistons . Check whether you can wind back the pistons in the calipers . when hitting bumps , your brake pads should rattle , if they don't you may have stuck pistons .

I have also had a problem recently with what I thought was warped rotors . Replaced the front ones which alleviated most of the problem . But there is still a little bit of a bit of a problem with a tire , you can hear it . I recently had a brake pedal that felt like it was sticking , so I bled the brakes , that problem appears to be fixed . I have also realised that after every time I go serious off road and deflate the tires , I need to re balance my wheels and tires , that's really starting to suck .luckily I don't drive mine far from day to day .

Thanks everyone, sounds like the sticky caliper is worth checking out. I'm heading down to my sons place in a couple of weeks and will put the beast up on the hoist and have a good look.
