  • Kakadu Bullbar - Radar cruise effect

After having the bullbar fitted this week, i also installed my Lightforce 240 spots and UHF antenna. My question for those who have a Kakadu with bullbar and spot lights is, have you noticed any effect from the lights on the radar cruise and PCS?

    cheers
    Geoff

    Hi Geoff,
I am very keen to know the answer to this also as I had the factory fitter alloy bar fitted (not my choice the dealership messed up) and I was about to fit some Narva HID Extremes however the lights come very close to the toyota emblem where the radar is housed.

Did you end up fitting the lights and have you noticed any issues?

    Thanks
    Andrew

      Andrew,

After fitting the bar & lightforce 240's, we went away for Easter, driving approx 800kays. The radar cruise worked perfectly normal, with no issues whatsoever. However this has also thrown up another question regarding the Collision Avoidance. As the CA doesnt just look infront, it scans on a 45deg angle to both sides i think, looking for possible obstructions that could move in front of the car. Witht the centre hoops of the bar and the lights, this view is impeded. Im not wanting to test out this thoery though, as it would mean getting unconfortably close to crashing!

      cheers
      Geoff

TJM bar and winch with light force spot lights on my ZR.
No problems what so ever with the radar cruise...
Avoidance systems work rather well too.... Maybe a little too well.
If you haven't seen it yet your in for a real treat

Hi Geoff, This was my concern with the spread of the radar as the Narva HID extremes are rather large and do partially obscure the radar.

I do know that there are some who have successfully moved the radar unit forward to compensate however I cannot recall where I read this. We have just returned form the Border Track 5 days (SA-Vic Border) and have been using the standard light on the Kakadu with a leader car in front running the Narva HID extremes and a lightforce light bar. It truly shows how inadequately lit my car is. I have decided to fit the units and go for a drive courtesy of my friendly shop who will allow me to do this prior to purchase (Thanks Johnnos Pakenham) which will answer my query one way or another.

Thanks for the info Shenman, my bar is the factory fitted Toyota full alloy so very different in the placing for lights than the TJM and ARB bars.

I will give an update soon as to my findings. Thanks Guys

I have attached a few photos of our trip with my Kak, you can see the bar work as I have mentioned.
