Yeah the old one has the larger screen but also radio controls below it. New one is a fancier screen with no controls. Not sure how many disc's or DVD the new one holds but the older version has capacity of 6.

    Love the rear door.
Crystal Pearl Altitude 150 Landcruiser Prado. TJM sensor bar, brush guard, side steps. KM2 BFG on GXL alloys. Kaymar bar, Drifta and MSA fridge slide. ARB locker and compressor, and MK11 compressor and fuel filter bracket.

The altitude screen is the same as the GXL, all facelifts have the new radio.
I thought the Altitude had a very large 7.2" screen? The others have smaller screens I think. Unless the screen claim of 7.2" is not true. The demo vehicles I have recently driven had small screens dimensions.

Also the Alt has the hi fidelity system; and the blue ray disk player and screen, blue tooth headphones, remote in the back etc. and the GPS, so it has the same sound, disk and movie setup as the Kakadu. IMO though, the leather is quite different. I guess time will tell about that. The leather is also dual colours in the Altitude, and quite attractive IMO.

They have moved the spare and consequently lost the long-range tank. Fuel tank holds 87L

That's OK, looks like a mod has kindly merged our 2 posts into this existing thread to keep them all in one place anyway.

I had a chance to look at the new altitude recently, has anyone actually opened the rear glass?? Im 192 cm tall and had trouble reaching in the back of the car through the glass opening, even with my long arms I could not reach the floor easily. I could not imagine one with a 50mm lift.... however the rear door is nice and light

Even the ones in your lounge room wreak of the taxi cab look after a while. They all wrinkle and all polish up on the drivers side and look much worse then felt or fabric.

As mentioned, leather is not a selling point, much like the colour of the paint job. It is what it is. Quality is not a word that should be associated with mass produced car seats.
My 2008 120 VX seats are still in great condition. 5 years and use it every day for work.
They are more comfortable than the fabric seats ( we had a GXL 120 for 3 years before the VX). Use a leather cleaner every year or so and this has kept them in good condition.
Only think is to remember not to park nose into the sun. The seats get bl**dy hot.

Picked up our new Altitude a couple of weeks ago and although it is mostly the family (wife) mobile I drive it every chance I get when I am home.

I have found the glass hatch to be really handy for putting a couple of bags in the back or getting a few things out in tight areas like our garage.

I was suprised they did not go with lift up or split tailgate aka 200 series but the wife loves it and in a couple of years when I finally get my mits on it and get it kitted out ill throw a kaymar carrier on the back and a long range tank if I need it and it will be a great family tourer.

                    Sure beats my old GU.

                          • I have to say, they look so much nicer without the spare on the back.

Its actually the standard in Japan, and there is some nice kits available hehe.

                            here is the Elford Kit

                            • So far this single tank is working for me with towing a boat and a full boot of gear. I used to have to pull up half way and fill-up the Forrester and now we just stop for a halfway break.

I don't think I would be travelling to the centre of earth and requiring 2 long rang tanks. If I did need extra fuel, a roof rack with some Jerry's will do me fine. This one little negative is far outweighed by the convenience of a light door, easy access glass window, a perfect factory mounted rear camera with full view of tow ball and back 3mt+, lighter GVM for everyday driving and more.

My fuel consumption is at 8.5-9lt per 100km of city traffic on HWY. This info in not from the car computer avg 30min usage, but from a program I used to record my amount of fuel in and kms done. HWY driving with no towing can get me down to 8lt/100 and fully loaded with boat is up to 12-13lt/100.

One concern I have with 2 tanks is fuel going stale. I fill up (empty to full) my tank every 2.5-3 weeks with a 87lt tank. If I had 2 tank I would be filling up 150-60lt every 5-6 weeks. that's not for me.

I have a 2y.o and the 7' rear Ent screen and leather seats are the best thing since slice breed for us when doing long trips.

For those that hate it and come up with the only excuse of a missing a tank... well these are usually people that don't or afraid of change, especially when they are so used to seeing the same thing over and over. And I say get your GXL.

At the end of the day its whatever floats your boat, not this one is better then this one etc.
