Hi,
I am new to the forum - just joined up as I am looking for a second opinion on a problem I have with my 2002 TX 90 series Prado.
The engine warning light has started coming on in the last week or so. This seems to happen when the brakes are being applied, and only after 10 or 15 minutes of driving. It usually happens while sitting at a red light or waiting to turn a corner. Often the car goes into limp mode at the same time. Turning the engine off and restarting resets things, but only for another 10 or 15 minutes when the cycle repeats.
I took the car to Toyota, who have told me that they have detected an ECU code indicating that the throttle position sensor is faulty. They have advised that it will need to be replaced and the part will cost me $1,300(!), plus labour. Does this sound like a reasonable cost for this part? Are there any cheaper alternatives worth considering?
Thanks,
Dave.
