Had my 697's fitted early this year, just before I towed the van to south-west W.A. and back. Tyres are stamped 'Made in Japan"

No problems with the tyres, except that the tread collects a lot of small stones.

Well there you go, maybe why I got my spare relatively cheaply, it must be a parallel import. The other 4 were fitted by the dealer, also made in Indonesia. I have small consolation in that I only paid for 1 of them.

And yes, they do tend to collect lots of small stones.

      • Polished the Prado after the trip to W.A.

I had a protective coating applied when I purchased the Prado new in 2010, it lasted well, however, on the return trip after I washed off the dust and dried mud, I found that the bonnet and roof were covered in hundreds of small red/brown stains that would not wash off. Not sure, but may have been small spots of tree sap that stuck the red/brown dust onto the surface.

The spots were not on the van. The van was driven along some dirt roads as well but no red/brown spots on the roof. The Prado was driven some places without the van attached.

The polish is Starbrite Premium RV Polish, can be used on vehicles, vans, motorhomes. Made in America, for use on fibreglass, metal, plexiglass and painted surfaces. The polish contains polytetrafluoroethylene (PTEF). Very slippery surface on the metal body and plastic wheel cover. Will see how it lasts.

Bought it from a Road Tech Marine (RTM) store in southern Sydney.

Did you purchase from a Bridgestone dealer, or another?

Will know what they cost when it is processed through lease. At least they didn't query why i was removing the half worn Dunlops which i will try to off load when i get a chance.

Their own shop at head office couldn't do it that cheap, go figure! I will say their service when I raised an issue was impeccable, they even took me and the Kaka over a weighbridge to check weights and determine optimal inflation pressures. For my Kaka they said 43PSI was ideal but I run them at 40PSI, the extra 3PSI made the ride just a bit too harsh.

ETA: They do look good when brand new on a frehly painted rim :-

i got quoted $264 a corner fitted from bridgestone dandenong in size 265/65/R17. think its a good price?

The spare was purchased from Donellan's who are a Bridgestone dealer, don't know who the dealer used for the other 4.

That's OK, not all 150s have 18" rims so hopefully someone else will chime in. The rim was freshly painted in that pic, 2 pack paint with a satin clear finish.

                      • Started the install process for the 11XP. Since I was on my own I took the cover panel and grille out to check there was enough space to drop the winch in. Should be ok not that I doubt the info given me by TJM. Then I took off the winch cover plates and bolted the hawse in place and checked there was room for the shackle block in lieu of hook. Given the most tedious job is usually making a bracket for the isolator and mounting the isolator I tackled that and mounted it up near the battery, fitted a couple of M5 rivnuts in the panel that runs across the top of the radiator. Trimmed the cover plastics and it works pretty well. Then I took the winch out and looked at it. Quite happy overall. Mostly though I did the looking bit. Broke two plastic clips but they were a bit dodge anyway. Oh and I put a couple of rivnuts on the bottom of the plate of letters and numbers. So I don't leave it behind like someone else I know.

You can buy cans of paint from the auto parts store and do it yourself but I had 4 wheels with an existing paint job I needed to match. The previous owner told me where he got them done so I just let them match it up.

Did my first 4wd trip with the mates... So impressed with the car. Also so happy I did the NSW toyo land cruiser club course... Apart from a high risk rutt sided by a big wall of rock that I didn't want to risk my doors on, the car had no worries, and took on some awesome terrain.
