  • Owner and workshop manuals

Toyota Australia now have owner manuals and workshop manuals available online:

    https://toyotamanuals.com.au/

The owner manuals are free but the workshop manuals require a paying subscription.

Don't be surprised... it's not like Toyota to try and screw you for every cent they can.

At least there is a one day subscription offer. Probably a reference you would only use as a last resort. There are plenty of "Free" manuals and data sheets out there to be found with a little time on Google.

Thanks for the heads up Mick, have already saved a copy of the owner's manual to my hard drive. I wish they'd make the other owner's handbooks available as well, would be handy for when you just want to explore the car's features a bit more. My 150 Kakadu came with 4 handbooks LOL, have never had that many with previous Toyotas and I've owned 6 including the 150.

It's daylight robbery. When I purchased my 2009 Prado the service CD was about $90. The paper manual they wanted us to buy was about a few hundred (maybe around $500). I got mine thrown in after being stuffed around with delivery and I had to submit the customer survey report with 'good' results...

Workshop manuals for caterpillar equipment can run into a couple of grand just for one book for one model. Mind you they are very comprehensive and often 4-5 inches thick. So maybe makes this look not so bad

            Cheers Andrew

Has anyone brought the 150 manual CD mentioned in Craigm's post? So cheap! I wonder whether it just runs Internet Explorer to link to the Toyota subscription webpage.

With those 150 workshop CD's you certainly need Windows 7 or earlier. If using Windows 7 you needs to wind back (uninstall) internet explorer to Version 8 or earlier. I have an older laptop with Win7 running IE8 and have this working well. I couldn't get it running on any later machine with Win8 or above (Win8 comes with IE10 minimum) and the software won't run on any other third-party web browser even in various developer simulation modes.

I'd recommend scoring an old school laptop off ebay or something (they are effectively worthless now). Look for something with WinXP (32bit) - this way you can run these manual CDs as well as the Toyota techstream software too. You can easily copy the workshop manual CD contents from the CD to the hard drive and run the software from there (it doesn't install).
