Just picked mine up with the 3" high flow cat and high flow muffler, as per clarkies pics, it is a significantly improved system. Noise is up a bit, and power is up a bit, just what you'd expect. Yet to give it a good run, but on a short drive I'd say a worthwhile mod.

          Hi Hutch
That's a fair point and one I normally go by myself
In this case I'm thinking of having a go at doing this myself latter in the year so with this thread coming up I thought I'd ask the questions now to help make my mind up which way I'm going to attack it.
I'll most likely rebuild the whole exhaust, just weighing up the effort I guess.

From everyone’s experience who seems to be the best value for money exhaust manufacturer. I’m looking to get a 3” system for my 2005 1KZ-TE, which is mainly used for highway driving, schools runs….etc.

Give Scott's Rods a call. I'm very happy with my 3" exhaust from them.

Quite a few people I've talked to now about the 1kz have said forget upsizing and simply get the middle muffler cut out. Two that I've talked to have done this, and from memory one said it was @$150 worth, the other @$190. Both of these guys said it made a BIG difference. I'm doing this soon and if I'm happy with results, won't bother with the upsized system.

I was going through the same question about exhaust size and decided to fit 3 inch scotts rods system to my 1kz te had system over 6months now and still love that whistle, at 110km/h on the hwy there is no drone, also had a few people talking about how many exhaust shops stocking 2 3/4 pipe if you were stuck some where and needed a repair to your exhaust??

I did that and then later fitted a 3" exhaust including dump pipe. Cutting the middle box made some difference but was quite noisy. The 3" system made a big difference and is much less noisy. If you have the money, just go straight for the 3" system.

Well, finally bit the bullet and got the Beaudesert 2.75"

To be honest, there is definitely an improvement - I am not entirely convinced it was worth the total sum of money spent...... I didnt tell the Mrs - hoping to surprise her but I am thinking maybe she wont even notice the difference.

Perhaps I should have gone 3" afterall. I guess all the comments about torque loss scared me off....

It seems to spool maybe a little better low down - it got rid of a bit of resonance noise. Apart from shutting it down, and hearing the turbo spool a bit more when revved with the door open, I don't really notice much of a tone difference at all.

I kept the old system so I can always rip this one off before I sell it off....

I have a slight vibration from it if laboured, so need to go back to have it looked at....

                          Hi Shodown.

I have the 2 3/4 and it released as much power as my dtronic chip did. I know this as once I fitted it if I took the Dtronic out it may very little difference. Before the exhaust went on the drtonic made a massive difference.

How is everything else? Injectors etc...

To be honest, I never thought mine lacked power.... was more interested in reducing turbo lag than anything else, so thought exhaust / snorkle combo could help after reading a few builds......

Bottom end was rebuilt when a Toyota dealership blew up my engine only 10k ago, injectors were tested and in spec.

EDIT: Just drove my normal 40km to work - I guess the biggest improvement has been low down hesitation. I can now comfortably take certain corners in 3rd that required 2nd.

We could have a drag but we are about 1/2 a world apart....
