Hey mate. Have removed plastics and the play is in top half of stick. Looks like there is a bush in top half. Hoping it is as easy as replacing that. Or do u have to buy the whole stick. Cheers

You can buy the bush separately as per the part numbers in the previous post.

Sorry to be a pain. Just to clarify against previous post. There are two parts of the gear stick. I recently replaced the bush at very bottom of the gear stick as it wouldn't go into reverse. So basically I'm just checking that u guys arnt thinking of that bush and checking that there are two bushes in total. Loving this forum to by the way.

I was able to fix the excessive play in the middle rubber bush. The middle of the level where the rod and outer lever sleeve join has two rubber bushes. The top has a female metal receptacle where the lever rod pushes in. I was able to pull the whole rod and rubber out of the upper outer lever. I had two seperate pieces. I then filled the outer sleeve with sikaflex automotive sealant through the centre of the female metal receptacle and then carefully reattached the female metal receptacle to the rod. I then pushed the whole lot home and left it. No more movement, we'll see how long it lasts.

The excessive play I see was caused by the metal female receptacle separating from the lever rod. This allows the rod to pivot only on the lower rubber bush only where the rod enters the black outer lever sleeve

Here it is with the middle bush filled with neoprene. It feels strong and good.
I have reinstalled it and here are a couple of installation photos.
Take note there is a couple of plastic lugs near the firewall end need to be removed then reinstalled
Simply push the centre and they release and then undo the 4 bolts retaining the dust boot and metal surround.
***Be careful it's very sharp and will slice your finger, I did!***
Put it all back together it's pretty simple. Good for another 250k hopefully.
