  • I thought that would be the case.
When the Bank of Spilsy re-opens its doors (Its closed after a fridge and battery), I will put in a proper dual battery system, just with an Anderson plug to disconnect the battery when I want to move it to my campsite.

I ran with just the original Ark Pak, 130Ah, IC700 charger and a long extension cord for a while. We haven't started camping yet so I just found a 240V socket where we stayed and ran it to the Prado via the extension cord. Eventually once I worked out what I wanted to do and asking lost of questions on the Dual Battery Guide thread, I started getting the bits and pieces and eventually connected it all up.

      • Battery Box is all installed. Haven't got the cabling sorted for the dual battery yet, but that'll come soon.

Pictures to follow when I'm not at work

          • HI Spilsy, have you tested it out with the fridge over a weekend? I'm interested in how it went as I am tossing up the under bonnet dual battery versus a portable battery set up. There is a battery mob near me at Warriewood called Battery Business who make their own set ups and they give the Arkpak a run for the money on price but have all the trimmings

The rack held up, everything I put up there stayed exactly where I wanted it to.

Hi mate, how is the rack holding up?

I've been thinking about knocking one up myself and was wondering if you had any sagging of the mesh with only two supports? I'm thinking about three and a total length of 1500mm...
              Cheers

The fridge has been used a few times. It marvelous being able to take the battery and the fridge out of the car and take them to where ever they were needed.
I also went proper bush with the fridge and battery in the rear and had absolutely no issues at all.

There is a little sagging yeah, but its not noticeable from ground level. I debated adding further supports but that would make the rack a whole lot heavier. Im not concerned with the little bit of sag.

                  • New Drawers

As is shown HERE, I've spent this weekend removing the rear seats and building some new drawers. Im some slides and a bit of fabrication away from finishing yet...next weekend maybe!

                    • Here is an update after a bit of a tinker this afternoon:

Unfortunately, my draw slides wont be here till next week so I can't finish the job until at least next weekend.

But, today I fabricated the left and right fillers and cut out the section for my battery.

                      My Battery's new home.

I have to figure out the best way to stop the battery sliding - the strap will stop it bouncing but not sliding.
When the battery is not in, the cut out drops back into place and is screwed in on each side.

How about a thin piece of insertion rubber (think you can buy this at Clark Rubber) glued to the floor beneath it?

                        • Is the floor under the battery box wood? You could put a 10mm X 10mm border around the base of the box, combined with the strap you should be good to go!

That was my first thought, because, yeah it is wood. The rubber could be handy in there too, for traction and shock absorption.

                            • A combo of both would probably work well!
