I'm in - how hard is it to change one out on a Prado? Is it easier to remove the sump guard and do it from below?'04 120 Petrol Flinders Red GXL

Thanks. I got a Baileys one. No gaskets. I've changed it out already reusing the o-ring on the base of the SCV valve and the gasket.
Getting the bottom bolt in and out was a pain in the A. I ended up rotating the SCV such that the electrical connector was facing down rather than up to make getting the plug off easier next time.
The pressure fluctuation is much less. Was around 4000 before. It's around 1200 now. Acceleration is slightly better from standstill but much better while rolling and giving it the boot.2019 GXL, Bullbar, UHF, Redarc Brake Controller, Tow Bar, Secondary Fuel Filter

My suction control valve arrived during the week (the day after ordering it from baileys, great turnaround time).
All I can say is wow, what a difference.
Smokey exhaust has improved drastically! And the engine is a lot smoother and more responsive too (even though it was smooth before, the improvement is noticeable).
I haven't yet filled up to see any change in fuel economy, but I think I will see some improvement.
Ever since the engine rebuild I haven't been 100% happy with the prado, always thought there was something not quite right, but could never figure out what. Until now, the SCV has made it run like it should.

Does anyone here have any suggestions for undoing the engine side hex nut?
Also what are the two shaft looking items with the kit? Where do they go?'04 120 Petrol Flinders Red GXL

What shaft looking item? My kit just came with the SCV in bubble wrap.
I use a normal L-shaped allen key to remove both bolts. Crack the bolt loose then use your inject finger to find it out a third turn at a time.2019 GXL, Bullbar, UHF, Redarc Brake Controller, Tow Bar, Secondary Fuel Filter

Mine has been getting rattly on cold mornings for the past few months. I had Baileys injectors fitted at 172111 km and have only done 36000km on them, so was surprised when I started to hear the rattle coming on again. Had a word to Baileys and they advised it may be the Suction Control Valve (SCV). So, booted up the Techstream and here are the cold and hot readings.
Number 1 and number 3 can be as bad as +2.2 and -2.4 respectively, but they come good when hot (see attachments).
The Target Common Rail Pressure varies from 29000 kPa up to 37000 kPA but goes rock steady on 35000 kPA when hot. I'm not convinced it is the SCV.
But, since it's a pretty easy part to replace and seeing Amayama have them priced at 181.57 AUD.
I'm no mechanic, but I'm thinking the SCV fluctuates when cold, because it is trying to control erratic fuel flow through the cold injectors ??
Anyway, once I receive the new SCV, I'll get some techstream readings before and after it is fitted and post them here. Will also be interesting if it rectifies the cold rattle.2007 120 GXL D4D 6sp Man
