After a lot of rocky and muddy daytrips 4wding and a cracking recent weekend away its time to clean off the trusty BBQ, get the togs out and wipe down those maxtrax, It’s warmed up, the sun is shining so it is time for a SEQ Beach Run.
This trip will be a long but relaxing day, no hard core 4wding but just sand driving. A nice BBQ lunch (or BYO lunch) , some swimming if you feel inclined , sand castle making for the little (and big kids) and then back some more tracks and down the beach and home at end of the day. More details below.
Always good to meet up with some of the new SEQ people as well as the regulars.

Time: Leave Brisbane Sunday 17th Early! We all meet up at the BP Caboolture Northbound on the M1 at 7.30AM

End of day we will be leaving between 4 and 5pm ( depending if we can drag the kids out of the water or we are still digging out bogged Prados gets you back in Brisbane about 6-6.30ish.
Some of us may stop off for a steak and beer at the Ettamogah pub on the way home. (You will be home later then)

FROM BRISBANE: Approximately 2 hours drive, 160+km from Brisbane
From Bruce Highway straight up the M1 to the BP first. Then we will proceed up Cooloola Way first.
Cost: You will need a day permit for access to the Cooloola Recreation Area.
1 Day permits are $11.05 available here http://parks.nprsr.qld.gov.au/permits/
You have to register, and make a booking and select day access for Cooloola. It will be $11.05, Or you can ring phone on 13 QGOV (13 74 68)
Weather: Odds on it will be clear and sunny but if we get crazy Melbourne weather we will re-assess the day before

Details:The plan is to meet at the BP on the M1 as above at 7.30am. Grab a coffee, and then be on our way, with a new rough itinerary below ( Cooloola way is closed , if it reopens thsi week we can change the route on the day)

If Coolooola Way is still closed past harrys hut ( which it currently is) , we have to go around to rainbow beach road to get to the north end (it will add an hour or so)

7.30am leave the BP.
8.30am Turn right in Pioneer Road - > turns into Pomona - kin kin road.
8.45am Turn right in the open part of cooloola way - > Drive to harrys hut.
9.00am Morning tea at harrys hut
9.45am Back out to Cooloola way turn left, onto Pomona Kin Kin Road.
9.50am Turn right onto Taigain Road
Turn right onto tin can bay road
Turn right onto rainbow beach road.
10.50 Turn off onto the Western and Eastern firebreak circuit , king bore road (beach access is closed - Buggar)
11.50 Back onto Rainbow beach road for about 3 kms to freshwater track.
Down freshwater to the picnic area and beach
1pm. Lunch
2.30pm Up Leisha track
3.00pm Walk up to DIP light house ( may or may not cut this out depending on time)
4.00pm South down the beach all the way to Teewah / Noosa. Low tide at 2pm
4.30-5.00pm+ Ferry across the River to Noosa

- A shovel in case of getting bogged in the sand. Several should have maxtrax though.
