  • OUR 120's NEED a real middle fuel tank guard.

If you have a 120 and the middle fuel tank guard isn't pretty well hammered you don't go 4x4ing.
It's not really different To others like a 150, same story.
We need a fuel tank guard, so Arb, TJM, OL, Powerfull, Mcc, brown davis, AJ120 OR amts please help
I've hit the rear tank a few times, but the middle one cops it a fair bit.
IMO it's the biggest clearance & damage risk the Prado has.
I take mine off & bash out, paint & refit.
Because its a plastic tank, you don't want to have rocks jammed between that tin, constant off road rubbing etc.

But then you don't hear about them being damaged, so maybe I'm overreacting?

Please post your interest here, so the possible manufacturers can see if there is any interest.

Yes, agree. And something to protect the fuel cooler on the diesel.

      That is an interesting point.

I'm surprised that no one has thought of this.

Ironman actually have a fuel tank guard but not sure which tank its for. When I bought my underbody protection kit the guy said to me do you want the fuel tank protection plate also?

I didn't have the cash for it so didnt bother. Could be worth investigating

this is from the website which doesn't state 120 however they asked me when I bought it if I wanted it so they either got confused or they dont sell it for a 120

Looked at my rear tank today after tackling Monkey Gum yesterday.
I think I have now lost 20 litres of capacity due to the tank being dented and modified..
          Better under body protection needed..

I normally take it off, clean it all out, bash it back out and refit. I don't worry too much about the painting step.

I think ASFIR do a tank guard now.

and yes X1000 the 120's need the middle tank guard for sure. although 4" lift also helps.

I've started looking into this. Here's a rough sketch just to gauge from the fabricators what sort of money this is going to be. Then modify to suit to bring the cost down.

I was just thinking to take mine off & give it to fabricator, to make out if 4mm, then they can get the 6 mounts 100%
Let us know how you go, Thankx.

                    You and your 4 inches...

A tank guard would be nice...

AMTS do you think there should be some drainage holes? I would be concerned it would perhaps fill with water or stones without the holes.

                      What do you think?

Yes it will. This is just a rough model to get estimates.

It's a lot more complicated in shape than first thought. I haven't added the drainage holes yet.
