  • SEQ – Weekend at Land Cruiser Mountain Park -12th & 13th October

We have had some cracking SEQ daytrips recently and always end up wishing we were camping the night and staying longer, so a few of us have planned a weekend 4wding and camping on Saturday 12- Sunday 13th at Land Cruiser Mountain Park. It will be good to kick back with a beer or two in front of the fire for a decent catch-up.
If you’re interested in joining us put your name down below, it’s always good to meet some new faces and catch up with the regulars. The park is about 2 and a half hours from Brisbane and has a mix of all different types of tracks from mild to extreme, so there is something for everybody there.
    http://www.landcruisermountainpark.com.au/
Date: Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th of October 2013. It’s an event free weekend out there.
    UHF: Channel 16
Time: Leave Brisbane Saturday 12th We will be arriving 11am-12 on Saturday (your welcome to arrive earlier but we have some morning commitments) , camping Saturday night and leaving about 5pm Sunday.
    Location: Land Cruiser Mountain Park
FROM BRISBANE: Approximately 2 hours drive, 160km from Brisbane Airport
From Bruce Highway take the Caboolture/ Kilcoy Exit, follow D'Aguilar Highway to Kilcoy.
FROM KILCOY:Turn right at the clock roundabout (2nd exit) to Jimna, follow Kilcoy / Murgon Road. Stay on dirt 16km past Jimna turn off, Turn left at Landcruiser Mountain Park sign on Diaper Rd.
    Phone: (07) 5497 3164 if lost
Cost: The park charges $45 per vehicle to camp Saturday night and $25 for the day Sunday. So it will be $70 per weekend per vehicle.
Weather: Looks like another warm sunny weekend and a cool night, so take some warm clothes for Saturday night. If the weather dramatically changes we will re-assess.
    Google Maps: http://goo.gl/maps/P13AL
Details: The plan is to meet at the office on Saturday morning, spending the day exploring the trails. Set up camp Saturday late afternoon and have a few beers over dinner in front of the fire. Sunday we will spend the day on the tracks, leaving about 5pm, being back in Brisbane around 7pm.
There are showers and toilets at some of the camp areas but you can camp anywhere where in the park. Check the website.

Unlikely to make it but have been busting to get back to LCMP for ages...bugger! Last weekend at Straddie, this weekend at Levuka so the next at LCMP would be pushing it.

Have just spent the long weekend out there had a ball, very dry and dusty. Quite impressed how the Prado performed did a few of the Orange runs, needs its belly lifted but. We camped at the Gums camp ground, plenty of open space with hot showers and toilets. Hope you have fun.

Bugger... as Toyota say, the oil seal at the diff on the front is leaking and can't get parts until Monday next week so I'm out BTW Oldmac Toyota at Cleveland looked at the leak and told me that it was caused by the OME suspension giving too much droop, therefore not covered by extended warranty.

Called ARB and they told me that the difference between original and OME is 5mm and that the end going into the diff is held solid by the bearings so the droop doesn't make any difference to the seal.

Told Oldmac to call Toyota and that I would be calling them as well they rang back and told me that they would repair it under warranty, pays to argue. I vowed never to take my car back to Oldmac but due to the sveerity of the leak and that I could drive it there I did. NEVER NEVER again!
