I'm looking at purchasing an 05 prado grande. The one we have found is in great condition with low kms and it's a good price. Only problem is, it's black. I personally love the look of black cars, however so many people swear off ever getting them, as they get too hot in summer. We live in Perth so summers can get pretty warm. I also have two young children, so would hate to have to wait to load them in, every time we wanted to use it in summer. I've heard they are also hard to clean and show up scratches but that side of things does not really concern me. It's mainly just the temperature. Has anyone owned a black prado before and willing to give me some feedback? Any information would be appreciated. Cheers

Black versus light colours
Have black and its fine. The grande has dual air conditioners so it has never ever been an issue for me.
Driven it thru temps of over 48 degrees and always been comfortable.
Leave the sunroof cracked slightly in summer with windows down about an inch and it stays cooler than closed up.
When you hop in open the sunroof and windows and it cools down within a minute then the air con takes over.

they r a little more work but the outcome when finished is more satisfying...

What's the saying "Once you've had black you never look back" or it that "you never go back?" Can't remember.Dave

Love the Black. Zero heat issues (Brissy), however definitely shows the dirt/dust. I understand your concerns with the Perth summers and the heat in a black car, as I was ,but after owning mine for 2 years now
any car is going to get HOT in direct sun, I have no regrets with mine and look how many black cars are on Perth roads
After a bit of TLC and polish on a weekend - stand back and admire the BLACK - it looks better than white!!!

Simple test:
Walk into an outside shopping centre car park on a warm sunny day. Find a white car and a black car. Put your hand on the roof of the white car to feel the temperature. See if you can do the same with the black car, but be careful, you don't want to burn your hand.
Black is not a sensible colour in the Aussie sun, and it's a bad colour for visibility too. Not to mention the trouble finding it in a dark car park late at night.
