The Spings 4wd Park - Mini trip report
A group of us headed out to The Springs 4wd park yesterday for a day on the tracks.
What a fantastic day with good weather and great company. We met up at the Springs which is a couple of hours south of Brisbane.
They had the tail end of the ARB winch competition on which there was interesting to see.
Then it was on to the trails. Unfortunately Charles suffered a major airbag failure on the first hillclimb of the day. We heard the loud bang and hiss as a result of a direct airbag puncture. It was terminal, but we managed to fix it enough so he could get the prado home carefully. He received "The Golden Airbag Award" though. :-)
Once fixed, it was back on the the tracks. They were dry and dusty due to the lack of recent rain, so it was more about lines and wheel placment to avoid the washouts and rocks on the dificult tracks. No panel damage but a few underbody scraps as it is very rocky there.
After a long day in the saddle,we decided to make the most of it and go home via Condamine Gorge. It was interesting to do this as a night run as it brings a very different perspective. The river crossings have changed a lot since last time I was there, now filled with a lot more rocks and the water level was very low. We all got a very good underbody wash to clean the prados though.
Thanks to all that came, a great bunch of people who all chipped in directing lines for others and fixing.
It was a good work out walking up and down those hills.
