Looks fairly straightforward just wondering if anyone has tried something similar on their Prado?

If so any tricky things to look out for?

Depending on year model. I think for memory the 08 upwards come with the wiring already in place for the rear camera, not sure if this refers to all models eg gxl vx etc ???....cheers Steve

Yes. I installed the ARB reverse camera and replacement rear vision mirror (with video in it) with no problems. Only difficulty was finding the room to thread the video cable wire through the flexi-conduit running from the tailgate to the back door. But it is all do-able. And very satisfying once completed!

I'd be pissed if he did a rear camera install like that ony Prado. The way he ran the wire for the camera under, around the tow ball looks shithouse and I hate the look of that style of rear camera. The other thing is the monitor stuck on the windscreen prevents you from using a sun shade, also their a target for the low life oxygen wasting scum that like to take things that don't belong to them. Double Din Stereos are fairly cheap now to ungrade which include rear view camera capability so it's all nice and neat in your dash, or go the ARB rear view camera/mirror.... Cheers Steve

Out of curiosity, the cameras I supply and install are from the same manufacturer as ARB and is the I use for dealer installs. How much does ARB charge to supply their unit?

I have just put one in from repco. Looks like the factory one that connects into my pioneer head unit. I have almost finished all I need to do is connect it to the reverse wire at the back of the car and the head unit to the reverse selector wire. Does any one know what colour these wires are in a 2005 prado

Just remove the taillight housing and run it directly from the light bulb.

Red w/Green from memory for postive but please don't quote me on that.

As always, White w/Black is always a direct line to earth in a toyota.
