After owning our prado for almost 18months, I thought I'd better start a build thread!
The time had come to part ways with my much loved ( and 4wd action featured :-) ) Mazda BT50. I wanted to replace it with a new BT50 and my wife wanted a prado.... Guess who won?!? I can't complain though, I really love the prado.
Mods to the prado so far are:
Arb steel bull bar. I picked this up of eBay mega cheap. It's got a few small marks on it, but nothing worse than I would have done eventually anyway.
Tigerz11 full length roof basket. I know tigerz11 get a bad rap, but it's actually a pretty good product. Mounts are strong and all the welds look ok. The mesh on the floor isn't overly well done, but it's stood up fine so far.
King springs all round. I went comfort spring and it dropped a little after fitting the bull bar, but I'm about to fit one of AJ120's spacers to lift the front a touch more.
Redarc dc/dc charger and a 100ah battery. I have an Anderson plug at the tow bar, one in the rear for the fridgemate fridge and a few cig plugs in the cargo area as well.
Maxxis bighorn 265/70 17s. I had these on my bt50 and have been very impressed with them. They have never let me down.
Genuine Toyota towbar. I know there are better towbars around, but meh, it's a tow bar.
That's it for now. I'll be changing to a wider aftermarket wheel soon. Home made draws are on the cards too and I'm waiting for a friend of mine to knock me up some sliders, but I have to wait because he is pre ocupided modding his new pajero * shudder* :-)
