  • For those that have done it - How difficult is it to set up a bootcamp partition with Win7 on a MacBook Pro? Do you need a legit copy of Win7?

Done it. Works fine. Just the usual effort to install an operating system. Google it, bootcamp is not rocket science. You need a copy of Win7, which you are asked to register each time you boot up.

      • Hi all
So while waiting for my VCI cable to arrive I want to set up my PC. I am going to use an older Win 7 machine I have lying around.

Is there a licensed version of the latest 9.30.029 software around ?

I could get if from this site below but I am guessing a license key would be required ?

          • I would be a little wary, states cable will work with 64bit system, well seeing it's a USB
interface I would hope it would!

It doesn't actually state that the supplied software is 64Bit though.

            • I don't think the Mini VCI cable itself would be much different. They would have to have developed a new MVCI driver. Would be interesting for someone to buy from that vendor and see what you get for the extra $20 or so.
I just got one working that I bought from another e-bay Chinese seller. If you go through the process of manually installing the driver and changing the registry as explained in this thread it works fine.

              http://www.toyota-4runner.org/genera...-8-64-bit.html

I did not use any of the software that came on the disk. I just downloaded a later version of Techstream from one of the many sites that have it.

You can see some of the screenshots from my first reading on my thread here

              http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...njectors/page2

You just have to follow the set up process methodically - try to take shortcuts and it probably won't work.
Probably best not to do it on a machine that is important for other things. I had an older Dell laptop that has become my experimental machine so I set it up on that.

              • I sent this to the seller.

Hi,I notice that your description says that the cable supports 64 bit system and that it supports the latest version of Techstream, however it does not specifically state the the supplied software is the lasest version of Techstream or the it is 64 bit compatible. Could your provide this information please as I have been misslead by ebay descriptions before. Not saying you are doing this just want to be sure. Thanks.-

And received this. I think I will buy one and see how it goes.

Hi friend, this mini vci cable comes with a software cd which contains the techstream v9.20.029 software, the software supports both 32bit and 64bit systems, any other questions please feel free to ask.Thanksobdfamily

Hmm, well I don't think the Techstream software itself was the problem, and you can download the latest software yourself.

The issue, as I understand it, is that an XHorse driver is used, because these cables are rip offs off a product developed by XHorse.
The XHorse drivers previously used and distributed did not install correctly on 64 bit systems.

Be interesting to see how you go.

                  • Does anyone on the Sunshine Coast have techstream? I bought a cable and installed the program tonight however when I click connect to vehicle the computer is not communicating with the cable. The green light is on but it no workies. Just wondering if I can try someone else's cable or someone try my cable on a computer that is known to work.

Edit: am using a 32bit computer. I tried with my 64bit laptop but could not get the driver to install.

                    • Hi all
I have just ordered the Techstream v9.20.029 "kit" from the supplier that Mozz has mentioned in the thread above. might be a few extra dollars but i didn't want to fiddle with my laptop that I use for work. The receipt indicated early to mid-February delivery. Will keep you posted.

                      Cheers

                      • Managed to get the Techstream software working first time and got these figures back on a warm engine. I just had a look back through the thread but can't find any advice on what limits I should be looking for with regard to the injector feedback values. What sort of difference should concern me?

                        • +/- 3.0 is danger territory, pretty sure. Not sure about injection volume value though.

If you do a forum search on "Techstream" a few threads will come up and interpreting the readings is discussed in a few of them.

                            The main one being this
                            http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ght=techstream

You can submit the results to Baileys on their website, they will give a free analysis.
You need to get the cold readings as well.

                            • Thanks Wayne, stumbled across that thread last night. Injector feedback value for number 4 is at the top of the second column of parameters. All looks pretty good so far.

                              • Hi everyone
My techstream v9.00.025 kit arrived and I have installed on my Win 7 64 bit laptop. The install seems to work OK. first surprise was when it asked for my dealer name dealer number. Didn't get a chance to try it out this weekend, so will have to try during the week. for those who have set up - do I simply select the menu option "connect to vehicle" and wing it? Is there a user manual that explains things rather than the old trial and error method?

                                Cheers
