  • Matt,
    I can highly recommend:
The 2.0.4 cable scales82 and retroenduro are refering to available here (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2015-Orig...item339fcbdc3a).

Forget downloading any additional drivers or software from any other sites. Everything you need to get going is included, VERY complete and easy to follow instructions are included, even comes with a video/screen capture of what you need to do to install/configure if you have trouble with the written.

Note, my cable and Win 8.1 laptop worked flawlessly on my mates Hilux but when connecting it to my 120 Prado and another 120 Prado it lost connection after i checked my injector values. I'm emailing the seller about it and will post results.

    Cheers,
    Jamie

              • My Techstream mini CD and MVCI cable arrived in the mail last week. I bought it from Ebay seller obdfamily who had advertised a few different versions of Techstream. I thought i'd bought the 64 bit version for Windows 10. I made a mistake and accidentally ordered the 32 bit version. Fortunately the CD came with software and installation instructions for both 32 bit and 64 bit. My wife is overseas with the laptop that's running Windows 10, so i grabbed the old laptop which is running Windows 7 64 bit. The installation instructions were in a text file on the disk, and there was also a video which detailed how to install and setup the cable and software. It wasn't 100% correct, but i was able to work it out. Based on what i've seen, i've got no reason to believe it wouldn't work on Windows 10.

On important thing to note is that it defaults to US, meaning it probably won't recognise your vehicle. It will then give you a list of US vehicles to choose from. You need to go into settings and change the region to other, then select Australia when it gives you the choice. This will then allow the software to recognise the ECU's and link with the car. You also need to make sure the car ignition is switched to on (not started). For push-button starts, that means pressing the button twice.

It took me about 3 minutes to work out what to do. I watched the data run for about twenty minutes and have attached three screen shots from three points over that period. Like i said, took me about 3 mins to work out what to do, so the first screen shot is from that point. You can see injector 1 isn't looking great, and there's a big difference between target and actual common rail pressures on the first reading, though they do start to normalise as time progresses.

The highest i saw injector 1 was -0.4 which was right in the first minute or so, and the lowest it went was -0.17. All of the other injectors remained fairly consistent in their values.

You need to substitute the IT3system.ini file out of the TSKey directory you get from the online install web instructions, into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\Env

                  • Has anyone got this running on Windows 10 yet?
                    Update..
I thought the update to Win10 had knocked out Techstream.. but it turns out that it was an updated defination in my Avast antivirus that had removed the MVCI32.dll.
I had to setup an exclusion for this file to stop Avast killing it every time I ran Techstream.

So ... Techstream 10.00.028 is running on my Win10 64bit PC.

                    • Yeah, i just gave Techstream (version 10.10.018) a run on Windows 10. The firmware update for the MVCI cable didn't want to run. Windows wouldn't recognise the file extension. Not sure why, but it didn't matter because i'd already run the firmware update when i first ran the software in Windows 7.

Also, once running, it ran for about 5 minutes before closing due to an unexpected error. Don't know why, but i was fiddling around with something in the background. 5 minutes was more than enough for me to get the values i needed.

Just remember that after starting the Techstream program you need to go into the settings and change the location to "Other", then set the dealer location to Australia. This will allow the software to automatically identify the engine.

When you run the diagnostic test, just select the engine sensors. If you select them all you'll be waiting for a while. Start the test before you start the car because it'll take about a minute for to run the test and navigate your way to the screen where you can view the real-time sensor data. Once you get to that screen, then you can start the car and you'll get the injector feedback values right from the time you start your engine.

                      • Hey all,
I just got my MVCI cable and Techstream V 10.30.029, and i have set it up with no issues on an old XP laptop I had.
I can change certain features eg. interior lights on approach, and Seat belt alarms, but when i try and look at the data sheet for the Engine to check it bombs out with
                        "Fatal Error
                        Error Code 0xC0040001"

I also got the same error when i was running Techstream V 10.10.028

I have set it up as Australia, and it detects my Model etc

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this issue, and if so how to correct it

                        • Same issue here - suggest the software isnt recent enough to pick-up the 1GD just yet.

Thought I'd reinstall the software and managed to lock mine up and now I cant even get it to work at all! - Should have just left it alone...
                          Cheers

                          • OK so figured out my issue from this post
The knock off cables use 1.4.1 or 1.4.6 (latest). The "real" cables use 2.0.1 or 2.0.4 (latest). They are all fake of course but the good fakes use the same firmware as the real Xhorse cable. The 1.4.1 firmware does not support active tests
                            My cable has 1.4.1 firware

                            • I have an Ebay techstream cable http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/V10-10-28...item4ae5a2f267 works a treat on a Dell Latitude E5430 running latest Windows 10 build 64 bit (1155 I think ) all instructions and software were included on the CD pictured in the listing and I just followed the instructions in the read me file. the tricky part for me was the techstream setup but selected Global techstream then it auto detected when connected selected the year range and all ok. Not good news for a couple of friends as their injectors are out of range.

                              Regards Michael

How do I get to the point where it gives engine readouts.
I don't want to open wrong section and reset codes etc.
