I understand you are all Internet people and many will love facecrap, yes it's a loosing battle, or is it?

Facebook is like pickles in a cheeseburger, you love it or you hate it.

I think, it's ok for overseas communication etc, that's about it, my wife's on the sh!t, it's a big time waster!!!! All these dumb ass comments, blah blah b.s........
Get out and go and see your 5000 friends.........

Some technology is really crap, everyone is too busy, so they have the ipad, & 5000 friends, whatever!
The big security issue, the badasses, can find out too much about us. Causing other headaches for ppl.

Say no to facecrap book.

FB is all of these things but for people like me who only get to see rellos (and my daughter) overseas every few years it's worth putting up with the crap. It's almost like we're all together in one place. You can just ignore the annoying ones. So thumbs up for me.

I use it to keep in contact with friends and family on what's happing with my boys.
When you have friends in nearly every state it helps when we aren't able to catch up very often.
I make sure only my friends can see my profile/photos and limit my friends to those I actually talk to. I think I'm only at 180 friends/family.

Well being that I am IT - I have a different take on it.

Facebook - no work Managers are friended, I view it as entertainment - yes I do on OCCASION post pictures of my daughters up there, not often. Political views are my own, and I don't care what other people think. Privacy settings are maxed right out, I play games, but make sure that they only post to me.

Skype - not too much on that, being that I am a transplanted Canuck (Aussie citizen, BTW), it is a good way for us to video chat to my mother - and for her to see her granddaughters. Works OK on 3G on the iPad/iPhone as well.

LinkedIn - a professional version of social networking, I have most of my work history posted there - a couple of job offers have come my way, but they are on the "Big Island" and for not that much more than I make now.

PradoPoint - I own a Prado, what else is there to say? I'm learning lots, seeing lots of ways to spent $$$

If you keep dumbass friends then yes you will have dumbass comments. I don't have dumbass friends so can't say I have this issue you talk about.....:mrgreen:

I have friends and family around Australia and overseas, its our way of sharing pictures and keeping in touch. I don't have work colleagues or old school friends I'd never talk to on the street and I keep it that way.

I find its great to see what my family and friends are up to. two of my friends are currently travelling overseas and it's been awesome seeing their daily updates of some awesome country side that I won't be seeing for a looong time! Otherwise it'd be ages before seeing their photos ( aah the old days of slide nights at Gran and Pa's when they got home from a trip!). In the last fortnight I've set up a page for my business, it's been a great way of sharing some of our work and also current trends. So far we've had a fantastic response.

Maybe not for everyone, but don't knock it till you try it.

Don't have Facebook and never will , if I want to communicate with someone I ring them or see them face to face , much like I'm doing now ! Doh ! What I hate is when your sitting in a restaurant and the table of 80 year olds behind you never stop rabbiting on about Facebook Facebook Facebook like its the newest and greatest invention the world has ever seen. I resisted for ages. Then found it was the best way to notify the squad of mainly young people I coach for athletics.
Created a group and I can put up messages and pictures that they can access.
Heaps cheaper than SMSing them all.
Also found it allows you to keep up with the going ones of friends you may not see that often.
At comps I take a lot of photos and it is an easy way to let all those who go know they are loaded and where to find them.
There is a lot of rubbish and dribble on it as well, just filter it down and block it first time you see it.

Each to their own. If your happy with a slide rule why get a calculator :-)
You can live without it and I know a few who have dropped it due to the back comments etc that goes on.
Most teens go a bit crazy, but most of the adults have the right idea.
It may well pass like other fads. 15yrs ago most said there was no need for a mobile phone.

I used to love it but find I am using it less and less these days. Especially with the recent introduction of 'suggested pages'. Spam...

Anyone who hasn't done so recently - I would suggest checking your privacy settings. I keep mine tightly locked down but was shocked the other day when I used the "Who can see my stuff" feature. 162 photos appeared in my public profile.. Easy enough to sort, but I had oringally had all my setting to Friends only, but the recent introduction of Graph search update 'fixed that'.

From your profile page click the padlock in the top right, and choose "Who can see my stuff"
