  • Richos 2013 D4D 150 GXL

I have had my 2013 D4D GXL graphite prado for about a month now and im very happy with my purchase. I was deciding between dual cab utes and then I went to my mate at nedlands toyota and he told me about the special they had for $60990 drive away and after the test drive that was it!! Took about a month to get it in which was painful, but worth the wait. In a week me and my wife are heading up to Karijini and coming back down the coast for 12 days.

I have just had it in at TJM and got some additions ticked off my wish list:
TJM T13 steel bull bar colour coded.
    Airtec snorkel.
Dual battery with mounted visual control unit. ( I only mounted under the bonnet, I didn't really want it in the cab.)
Double 12v power points in the rear.
ARB high output air compressor under the bonnet.
Recovery points under the bull bar.
Roof top tent rack and roof top tent from shoreline 4x4 in osborne park.
    Techni ice 60L car fridge.

Still looking at getting some spot lights and a CB radio before we leave but I think that's it for now.
Future I will be looking into getting it lifted, chipped and possibly air lockers but that is a definite wish list...
If any one has any tips or advice for either my new car or trip up north please post.
    Thanks!!

    Richo

Looks like you have the Roadsafe recovery points Richo. Did TJM mount them flush against the bullbar mounts on both sides? Only asking because I've had some issues fitting to the Kaka due to washers from the bullbar bolts getting in the way which required some modification to the point design.

Are you still on the Grandtrek tyres? Consensus seems to be that they are OK for light off-road but not up to anything too serious, never got to try them on my Kaka though.

I reckon fitting a catch can is a must do, as that will pull out all the oil residue out of the gas that is recycled by the EGR system. By doing this important modification, you don't get the build up in the EGR valve and associated parts.
Secondary fuel filter system is a good idea too. There are threads on both of these mods. Not that expensive to do, but important.
              The Roo.
Hey Roo thanks for the input. Will look into those mods when I get back from my trip,

                  Hi Johno251

Nice looking Prado and welcome to PP

If your looking for a CB radio for your trip - an option is prestige communications up in Malaga - few PP members over east have used them for good value (no affiliation)

Hutch I must admit I have been looking at your rig build up for ideas. Did you mount your CB radio yourself?? I just bought a similar one that you plug in the hand piece and thats all you see. Im going to have a go at doing that on thursday...
                    Thanks mate

Interesting, do we have another player in the recovery point market, that one looks like a new design?

They aren't the Roadsafe ones after all, looks like a new entrant. Interesting how they have only one bolt hole at the top (Roadsafe and Outback Ideas use two). I can't see where else they are bolted but assume at least one more under the bar itself.
