        • Finally got some UVP. Very nicely made. Let's see how well they fit up on the weekend.

          • Why go TJM over ARB?

Is it because they is black?

            • Having looked closely at both the ARB & TJM (plus many others) the TJM came out on top for me. I would've gone for the amts plates but waiting 2 years for a product, I ran out of time! (Sorry Andrew, but you really need to close your bash plate thread now...)
Really impressed in the build of the TJM plates . The proof now will be how well it fits up!

(Oh, and the black over grey helps too! 😃 )

              • They look good but I dare say they won't be shiny for too long. Can you give a bell when you have them fitted cause of wouldn't mind having a bo peep at them before your trip.
                Thanks Matt

                • I have the TJM plates on the 150 and the Corolado. One of them (150 maybe?) weren't bent correctly but the replacement fitted up easily and the other went straight on. The only thinkg I don't like, and this is generic with all that I looked at, was the exposed bolt and ramp washer thing. Why not just recess the damn hole and keep the bolt out of scraping harm? I toyed with cutting a hole and then welding in a plate but lost interest. After doing the diff drop in the Corolado we had to drill new holes and ended up doing the same as the 150 because there was no space to recess the bolt.

Having said that the TJM plates are a good product and better than the A or I alternatives in my view.

x2. I have just the front bash plate. I did not want to add more extra weight so left the others alone and ease of servicing etc. 3mm from memory and a lot more rigid than the OE bendy one. Only issue I had was it did not bend but the cross frame did, ripping out the threads for the bolts. Twice I've have to get a panel beater to weld me a T Nut into the frame so the bolts can be put back. Sourced new 13mm hex head Stainless steel bolts with spring washers so it's all new and greased up for the future.
Edit: just saying they don't bend easy so the stands transfer more potential energy/ shock into those flimsy threads on the back cross member, leading to failure?

The Prado had its 170k service and pre- Cape trip inspection yesterday. The TJM plates were generously fitted up by my mechanic also. No issues with the fitup other than having to push up one corner as an existing bolt wasn't quite long enough. TJM plates look great. My only cooment is the10-15mm gap at the front of the plate where it overlaps the ARB radiator protection plate. It'll make for a good sand scoop I'm sure! I can always take the plate off and bend it over some more so it meets with the ARB plate

                          • Proud to be the first 120 Prado to be fitted up with Tin's Barrier. What a great piece of kit. Thanks Tin!

Pics are a bit ordinary, but you get the gist. I'll take some better images during the day when I can...
