Mod 2 was one I started a few months back, fitted the begining of the duel battery system utilizing a 32v flush mount plug for my Evacool fridge. Wired with 6mm double inculated cable under the bonnet along the door trims to the rear passenger side wall (with sufficient cable to reach the second battery).

That's a sweet head unit, Peril - where did you find it, and was there any fitting problems, or did it slide straight in?2009 White KDJ120R Manual fitted out for family camping and touring - See my Rig Build at http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27887-Smithy-s-Rig-Build

Straight in Smithy, no cable cutting with Toyota wiring harness supplied. I have the electric button type aircon, so no cables to disconnect to get the old one out as I saw in on 08 version here. I even have the factory camera cables run back to the rear door (bugga because I didn't realise till after I ran a new one). Size was perfect with no forcing needed but it has one small issue in recognising one of the steering wheel buttons. It recognised mode, volume (up/down)and up channel (not back channel for some reason?). Supplier is based in Mildura so he is at least in Australia and was quick in replying to my questions pre sale.

Talks to my Samsung Android phone, plays my music from it via blue tooth interface (even my ABBA music), very fancy. GPS seems to work , cheeky thing told me I was speeding in my test run, hehehe.Last edited by peril; 24-05-2013, 08:38 PM.2008 Prado GXL D4D Auto with Prado Pack

I know this guy Bads, he seems to have one very similar!
BTW Mod 3.
Small but practical, I never did like having the trailer plug below the rear of the car, ripped more than one of these off in my time. So to cater for the trailer brakes (future mod) I have fitted a heavy duty setup above the ramp angle of the Prados fat ass.
Had to grind a curve to match the plastic bar shape, but was a very easy job with a mini angle grinder.

The head unit went in a few weeks ago but I only just received the camera this week. So I fitted the reversing camera over the last few days, bit of an epic task with various differences in the Prado camera wiring making it frustrating. Ended up ditching the in car wiring loom idea, and running a new shielded 4 core from the head unit to the camera. The reverse light wire (camera power and unit trigger) was routed from the rear trailer wiring loom (black wire) up the left side kick panels to the head unit. This was made easier as I used the now spare second wire in the electric brake controller loom (I replaced the thin 3mm electric brake wire last week with a 6mm one). The camera 4 core core wire went down the right side panels, into the rear door through the rubber seal, and out through the number plate light grommet at the rear.
I now have a functioning rear view camera, makes parking and trailer hitch-ups much easer.

Installed the Tekonsha P3 Brake controller.
Heavy 8G wire from battery to the controller, and from the controller to the Trailer plug (above). All earths are equal to the power wire. Circuit breaker is 30A and came with the unit purchased off Fleebay.
No problems with room here despite how it appears, in no way can I make my leg hit it in this position. It is easilly reachable for manual operation on the fly and any program changes you want to make.

I have purchased a Tigerz11 Deluxe Bar, it's sitting in a garage in Brissy waiting for me to have it colour coded and a winch fitted. The bar itself weighs near 100kg, I'm not sure what an ARB bar weighs but for sure I'll need to fit the King Coil suspension right after the bar and winch combo. Thanks to the PP members who were willing to answer my question on their Tigerz11 bar experiences.
Yesterday I ordered the duel battery tray, should be here in a few days. After much reading on the guard crack issues others have had, I have made a choice which I hope spreads the load as wide and evenly as possible.

I'll be taking a trip to Brissy next week towing my camper in my D4D Prado. First long range tow tests with a 800kg trailer, wish me luckLast edited by peril; 13-09-2013, 02:07 PM.2008 Prado GXL D4D Auto with Prado Pack

In preparation for the duel battery installation I did some ground work on an alternator booster diode/fuse mod. More information on this subject can be found here
http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...r-Output/page5
but it basically this mod boosts the alternator output by ~0.5v. The components required are very cheep, and the skills needed only basic soldering.
1x fuse to match the alternator fuse
1x ZR0004 Diode
Firstly drill out the locking pins that hold the fuse legs in the plastic housing (1/16" bit)
Remove the fuse legs and cut the thin fuse wire between the two legs.
Bend and cut the diode legs so they can be soldered onto the inside of the two fuse legs. Solder the diode into position on the legs.
Slide the completed leg/diode combination into the fuse plastic housing and apply a few drops of Super Glue to hold it into position. Job done.
This completed voltage booster diode has to be installed in the correct polarity or it will not work. It will not harm the system if you install it the wrong way and will simply act as a blown fuse if you do. I'm yet to install this fuse and determine which way it needs to go myself but when I do I'll let you know which way my install went.Last edited by peril; 13-09-2013, 04:07 PM.2008 Prado GXL D4D Auto with Prado Pack
