  • Heavy duty clutch for 150 series

    Hi all. I have a 2010 Toyota Landcruiser Prado 4x4 Turbo Diesel. Just short of its third birthday and with 39,000 k's on the clock, I have found that the clutch has just about gone. Toyota tell me that there could be a number of reasons for this, as I have towed a 2100kg caravan for around 8,000k's. I can sought of accept that this may be a possibility.

    I have been ringing around for the past week and spent numerous hours on the web looking to see if anyone can supply a heavy duty clutch. At present all my inquiries have met a negative result.

    Has anyone had a similar issue and how did they remedy the problem as I am planning another trip in a couple of months time.

    Any assistance in locating a supplier greatly appreciated.

    hmm I've done 176,500k's on original clutch and towed a 2300kg van around for about 18,000k's and it's still going fine.

      Further notes for the home handy man who has the write tools and confidence!.. Lol

      Also do not forget to order the spigot bearing! (Small bearing in the middle of the fly wheel for the input-shaft) and check/replace gearbox and rear crank seal whilst gearbox is out!

      Note: Part numbers are hyper links. (Just hover cursor over part numbers).

      Gearbox Input shaft oil Seal: 90311-34029

      FLYWHEEL HOUSING DUST seal: 11354-30010

      Rear Crank oil seal
      90311-95008 (08/2009 - 07/2010)

      Rear Crank oil seal
      90311-95014 (08/2010

      Spigot BEARING (FOR INPUT SHAFT): 90363-12002

      ALSO!.. When removed clutch be sure to put a straight edge across the flywheel face to make sure that it is not con-caved or convexed!.. If so the fly wheel needs to be machined... If rig has suffered from clutch judder or heat cracks then definitely machine the flywheel-

        I am just getting up to 70K and it looks like I am up for a clutch also. I have had shifting issues with my car, has been good for past 6 months though with no issues. However, as I mentioned is appears I am up for a new clutch as when I accelerate in top gear (not towing) the clutch is starting to slip. vehicle is 2.5 years old. I cant see the point in putting another Toyota clutch in, will be a crappy as this one........ MRoss, did you get around to putting and aftermarket clutch in, what brand, how is it performing and what is the pedal feel like, much difference??

          Have the same problem with mine 35000km clutch slipping but it does have a bit extra power and bigger tyres so something gotta give.
          I've just ordered a clutch from direct clutches its an exeedy one that they modify to make it more heavy duty not to bad $940 delivered to Perth

            I know this is an old thread but, and there's always a but . We are on our third Prado and all of them have never had a clutch replacement before 180,00 K's. Even with towing the boat or the camp trailer, both weigh around the 2 tonne mark (loaded).

            You can be unlucky enough to get a faulty clutch (rare but it happens) or maybe you need to rethink how you are driving your vehicle as that has a lot to do with how your clutch wears. As far as flywheels go, you must have the flywheel refaced or replaced or you get no warranty on the new clutch.
