  • Hey guys, so my mate that built the bar is happy to make these for other 120 prado owners at this stage now he has a template.

Price is $1000 for the bar (unpainted) and he will charge $100 to fit it if people can drive to his house on northside brisbane. Otherwise being lightweight due to Alloy it would not cost too much to courier/post it across the country I would not imagine in comparison to steel bars.

These are handbuilt using structural alloy and checker plate.

PM me if you would like his details

    • Off to Gordon Country this arvo for a play with some mates, will be a fresh weekend out there I think!

Threw the muddies on for the weekend, man they are noisy on the highway compared to my BFG AT's, they are Maxis Bighorn 265-70-17 and usually what I run on the trailer.

        • Had a good weekend away, great weather only getting down to 6 degrees at night, I was expecting worse.

Truck did everything as always and didn't even get the winch out.

Only 6 deg sounds like a warm night for a mountain dweller

              • Have decided I want to build some sort of fridge enclosure for my fridge on the outback drawers. Think I will build it form ply and marine carpet it to match the drawers. I want to make it easily removable so might do it via a wing nut in each corner somehow and also need to built it big enough to fit my 65L primus mammoth and 45L engel. I keep the primus in the camper but on bigger trips if i dont take the trailer i want it to be able to fit instead of having to build two or a bigger one in the future.

                • Knocked up a cover for the fridge out of ply and carpet came up good. Made it so it fits the engel and the primus 65L mammoth if I need to put the bigger primus in the back. made it removable but probably leave it in. When the fridge is out there's still heaps of room. It's got no back so when I fold the seats down I can still put longer stuff through it.

                  • I've finally started rejuvenating my trailer ready for camping duties and have a couple of questions for you.
How did you mount the box on your A frame, weld or u-bolts?
What sort of jockey wheel have you gone with? I've taken my swing away jockey wheel off but can't decide whether to go with a removable one or not. Advantage of a removable one is the extra clearance you gain, but it's a pain in the butt putting on and taking off.
                    Interested in your thoughts.

Hey Gramps, happy yo help mate. I bolted my back at the back through the trailer and put a u bolt through of the bottom of the box around the drawbar frame mate. As the box is ally and the frame is steel welding the two generally doesn't work and creates a mess. I have a swing away and it works well, I find it tucks up high enough that it isn't an issue with clearance, also the trailer sits pretty high so all is good with the setup. Hope that helps!

                          • well it has been a long time since I have done anything to the rig, it has been performing flawlessly for years now

Since the build its spent a lot of time on the beach, 3 x 1 week trips to fraser, probably half a dozen weekends up double island and the same at inskip. It had a few stone chips which we starting to get a bit of rust here and there so I decided to give it some TLC this weekend.

Penetrol over the whole thing again and then a couple coats in the same colour as before. Like new again!

Also have been meaning to raise my water tank filler for a while as I think it is too low and I get a little bit of splash around corners when the tanks are full. So I am going to raise the filler about 20cm with some PVC one night this week.

Am off to double island thurs night this week and back sunday, cant wait!

                            • Bought a new toy on the weekend

also bought some airbags for the playdo so it tows it nice and safely. it weighs in bang on 2T with the 150L fuel tank full and on the trailer. powered by a fuel injected 5.0L V8 mercruiser. she is a one owner, 2006 four winns H200 20 footer. Seats 8 legally and should hit about 90kph on the water. Looking forward to many weekends to moreton and throwing the tent in and the engel and just getting away from it all. Between this and the camper trailer I will never be home!

Overall it was needing a lot of TLC so I spent about 15 hours on the weekend polishing and buffing the outside, touched up a few bits of paint, scrubbed the entire interior and pulled everything out of it. got mould killer inside the hull everywhere and cleaned absolutely everything inside and out. all of the interior has not been sprayed with marine upholstery protectant and it seriously looks as good as it did when it came from the factory.

Lets just say I have been looking for a while with a mate and we went halves in this because the price was far too good to say no to.
