Here she is, already a bit dirty, the way it should be




120 GXL, D4D Auto 2007

She came with a Sovereign Bar, Snorkel, GME UHF, BFG AT's, Lightforce Genesis Lights and an Eclipse touchscreen Sat nav/Audio system. I went for the few extra's instead of low K's figured I wont have much in change for mods. (its amazing how you find $$ for them though)



For my first mod I thought I would start with the dual battery install, still waiting on some parts to arrive but I got the tray in and started to clean up some lose electrics in the engine bay from the previous owner. looks like they took their dual battery when they sold it!

I have just sold my Bike so it looks like a deluxe bar and maybe a winch are not too far off.

Next up I decided to take on the compressor install, it looked reasonably easy and I have a bit of electronic/soldering experience so I thought I would give it a go.

unpacked the kit and checked all the terminals for where they go and started to mount the compressor



decided on the far right near fuse box and started to mark it out. As there was a slight level difference I mounted 2 bolts to a flat surface and used some rubber grommets to space for the lower 2


Feed the control loom through thru firewall to the drivers side switch/fuse box.
I found using a plastic or plasitc coated coat-hanger with the loop taped to it got the job done.


used some protective felt, its the stuff you can use on table legs to protect floors with one sticky side. this helped to even out the balance and give it some padding.

connected the loom to the switch mounted near the driver door.



Checked the plate for the balance and the holes lined up fine


rubber boots on the bottom 2 bolts

Bolted the compressor in and tightened under wheel arch


connected up the loom to the switch


Spliced into the ACC power

thanks mj, ive just done the SBi12 install and dual battery setup so I'll post some pics soon, but otherwise I'm getting the ARB Deluxe bar installed late next month. that should give me enough time to save some coin for a winch. Im thinking about attempting that DIY, wish me luck!

otherwise I would like to get/do:

2" lift but don't have a clue about suspension
front and rear lockers
Chip (not sure)
Exhaust
DIY rear table
Roofrack with rooftop tent and awning
camp light
better/darker tint
Maxxtraxs, Jack etc

but probably done in reverse order due to funds!

Dual Battery and Voltmeters Install

I got the Dual Battery system in over the last few days and I'm really happy its in and working.
I may have bitten off a bit more than I could chew with the voltmeters but it all worked out in the end, I started the night before with the center console on the kitchen table (mrs was at work) as the cables to the voltmeters were really short so I decided to terminate them then so I could just clip it all in the next day.

Getting it all ready and finding a location close to the start battery, its getting a bit cosy on that side of the engine bay!


used a coat-hanger to poke thought the cables for the meters and override switch.


ran the cables under the glove box and into the center console


then is was time to make sense of the spagetti

connected up the volt-meters to the cable runs to each battery


Took the power from the 12V which was also powering the UHF, in hindsight this was not the best as I would like to read the meters when the car is off, might change it down the track.



Cable tied' all the loose stuff out of the way of the gearstick and such

decided to put the Isolator here, it just fits under the bonnet and is close to the battery and out of direct heat



went for the optima and ran power to the rear and middle of the car for fridge and inverter
