Very rough idle in drive d4d 120 2008

Hi Guys

I have a very rough Idle in drive not all the time but most of the time.
Just got the 120 so still under warranty and it is going for its 120000 km service tomorrow.
But the mechanic recons its a warranty claim, even though he is in the dark about it.

Dealer said Toyota recons a engine mount???

Has anyone had this problem before?

Hi Woody,

That's how my probs started, intermittent
rough idle, problem was injectors on my
09 D4D 120, Toyota only replaced 2 under
Warranty, it seems to be starting again,
So they should have done all 4.

Hey Sean, I had similar symptoms with my d4d it turned out that one of the injectors was out of spec, so had to be replaced, lucky it was under warranty.

I've herd of engine mounts failing due to being a vacuum assisted unit.

Yep bigfella on here had the same issue 3 times. First time was injectors, second was engine mount/s third was injectors, traded it with requiring new injectors. In park idling was fine, drop it into drive and the whole vehicle shook, started with rough idle and extremely noisy on cold start up, by the time he trade it, it needed another two injectors but was out of warranty so he has now got rid of it.............My bet is one or both causing the problem.........Cheers Steve

Thanks Ghost, well at least I have narrowed it down to either engine mount or injectors.
Lucky it under warranty.

Yea they will narrow it pretty quickly at Toyota if they want, mine didn't even need to stay overnight for them to do a cold start test, chances are tho, they will want it overnight, lets just hope it gets sorted nice and quickly for you, and they don't try and screw you around.

You need a cold start test to check out
The injector probs, had to drop mine
In to Toyota the night b4 test.

Toyota had it for a day, a few days ago started
To get slight rough idle again, I bought a
Scan gauge & RPM showing erratic idle
Between 687- 708 RPM, should be 700
I think.
