  • Storage Compartment in the rear door of GXL. Anyone Found a Use for It?

Recently purchased a GXL 150 and was dismayed to find a door on the rear door storage compartment instead of the elastic mesh we have on the 120. The resulting storage space in the 150 seems a total waste of time however there are heaps of "ideas" people on this forum so am wondering what folks store in there. In the 120 we had 2 fold up rain jackets and a water/ detergent bottle for cleaning up our hands as well. Must be something worthwhile storing in the 150?
    Cheers.......Wayne

Removed the door and use the tie downs to hold our issued first aid & warning triangles kit.

First thing you see when the door's opened - very handy i have assisted at too many wrecks and when you send some back to your car to get something it needs to be easy.

We use ours for the winch controller and recovery PPE.

Also a good place to keep a spare pair of thongs

I have one of the most important things you carry in the car in there.

              A dunny roll.

I do like the spare thongs idea. Might chuck them in this arvo.

The snatch strap fits in the rear door storage with a pair of leather gloves and a shackle, always close at hand when needed (needs to be rolled just right). First aid kit clipped to the cargo barrier next to back seat headrest, rain jackets also on the other side. T paper in the front consol. The spade and axe are under the back seat.

I have a bag with emergency stuff in it including 2 reflective triangles, flashing lights, leather gloves and glass smasher. It is handy if you break down and has been used a few time when i have come across a recent accident.

Air line, air line adapters, sharp knife, gloves, some rags, a cake of soap, some tie down straps and a 16mm spanner for undoing the lock nut on the tow hitch because you never know when you'll need to pull it out to recover/flat tow someone. Two small first aid kits in the passenger side compartment, below the first aid compartment, a snap on mechanics seat cover to throw on the seat if you get a bit grubby. Oh, and an ARB tyre plugging kit under the back seat.

To me it looks like it's meant to have something in there that we here in Oz don't get, something like the safety triangles found in a lot of European cars. It's an odd shape for anything else that I can think of.

I keep a rolled up poly tarp in there and some rope but I have seen a small fire extinguisher stored in there too.

What size extinguisher did you get to fit Hutch or have you left the cover off?
