  • OK. You may have to trim a bit off the valve so that the filter will sit properly on the bracket. The bracket may have varied slightly from each batch or the valve may be longer than the one I measured up at the very beginning.

    • Upgraded my MK1 bracket to a MK2 so as to enable fitment of Responsive Engineering's Water Watch together with my ARB CKMA12 compressor. Once again a very neat and sturdy fit - thanks Andrew!

I fitted a low profile brass elbow to the compressor to enable the outlet to face forwards - much easier to reach the connector to attach and release the hose than when it's sitting behind the mount bracket.

Plumbing the Water Watch was very easy - I utilised the factory input hose to the fuel filter, cutting the last 90 degree bend off it and then connecting it directly to the Water Watch's input. Then a small loop of fuel hose was used to link the Water Watch's output with the fuel filter's input (taking car to avoid anything rubbing).

I wired the sensor of the Water Watch in parallel with the float sensor in the OEM fuel filter / water sedimenter such that it also triggers the factory 'water in fuel' warning on the dash. This meant for a very clean install - no wiring through the firewall or holes drilled in dash!

      Regards,

      David.

      • Nicely done, David. The Water Watch looks like a factory item.

        • That's awesome. This is on my list of things to do for sure now...

          • David, how did you go about wiring the water watch system sensor to the OEM fuel filter sensor? More detail would be much appreciated.

            • The factory sensor is just a float switch, so is the water watch. Basically, when water is present the switch closes and completes the circut, turning on the light. Wire the two switches in parallel and the light will turn on no matter which switch is closed, which is the way you want to set it up. In basic terms, the factory sensor has two wires, tap one wire of the water watch sensor to one factory wire, the other to the other. Polarity does not matter, you can't really get it wrong.

              • Mullerwh,

As AussieAndy said, it's just wired in parallel. The factory water sedimenter sensor is just a normally open switch that closes if the float rises due to presence of water. As the nature of the electronics at the dash is unknown though, I did use a relay to ensure the Water Watch and factory circuits were isolated. See schematic attached.

Up to you whether you wire it in on water sedimenter or loom side of the connector. As much as I did not want to cut into my loom, I did it this way so as to make the wiring invisible and not complicate the service operation of disconnecting the water sedimeter connector to drain the water sedimenter or replace the filter. I didn't cut the wires anyhow - just slit the insulation, spliced the additional wires in, loomed over the top with electrical tape and replaced the factory split conduit and it all looks like factory wiring.

                Regards,

                David.

                • I just fitted my Mk2 Bracket with a Racor filter & ARB compressor.... Quite happy so far. I still need to install the wiring for the compressor but that can wait a bit.

                  • Where did you buy the Racor filter from, is ebay still the best option?

                    • Yeah I got mine from the US (ebay)

The filter was done on uber-tight, I undid it prior to install with a filterwrench and slightly dented the side, but its okay. same with the bowl too. Just something to look out for.

                      Delivery was pretty quick considering.

Yes if bought mine on eBay from USA as well. I bought a spare cartridge as well and still worked out way cheaper than buying it local.

Yes you can. The air compressor space can then be used to mount a Ctek or a catch can.

I don't have any at the moment. There's a new version in progress where there is no need to get the extra bracket to mount the FM100. The mk2 combo bracket can mount the 2 types of filters or Water Watch.

Have you managed to find a donor vehicle to check out yet? Picked up a CKMA12 from the Explore Australia Expo today, now have to find a way to mount it.

No. Might have to buy a charcoal canister myself. Or perhaps some photos to start with.
