    MIKS4B - 2012 GXL TD Manual

    Picked up the new 150 GXL TD Manual last thursday so the time has come to start the build. Hopefully the new 150 can fill the boots of the old 120 which never let us down.

    First stop after delivery on Thursday was to replace the Grandtreks with Mickey Thompson 265/70/17 ATZ 4-rib. First time using Mickey Thompson after using BFG AT's on the 120 for 6 years so will be interested to see how they go. Was just after a bit more aggressive tread than the BFG's.

      Dropped it into my local shop on Monday to get the ARB bar, 2" OME lift and tow bar installed. Turned out well and am very happy with the look of the bar and change in height.







      Was a bit undecided wether to install a winch again, but with the extra dollars to install it later and the amount of Nissan's on the tracks these days i decided to do it now.

        Two generations of Prado!



        If only i could talk the missus around in to keeping the 120 and getting rid of the old camry we could have his and hers.......or his and his!! but seeing as though the mods have started on the 150 now, there's probably no point in having two well equipped machines in the drive. I should let someone else buy in on the fun.

                  Completed installation of the auxillary battery and tray.



                  Installed the Piranha tray and Optima D27F.



                  The Piranha tray comes with a small bracket that you mount to the tray and instead of bending the aircon hose it sort of pushes it out of the way using the existing rubber mount. From what i can tell the clearance is certainly fine around the battery, maybe just a little tight down were the corrugated conduit is near the tray, but will monitor after the trip to the high country after xmas.

                    Installed the TG150 transfer case and actuator guard.

                    Took longer to find the socket set than to install it. Certainly offers more protection than the poxy Toyota one.

                      Nice rig mate. Personally I'm not a fan of the white writing on the tyres but other than that I like it

                      I had those tyres on my old 120 after having Coopers and BFG's and I def found them to be the best, and longest lasting.

                        I've always been white on the outside, but hey, i might try black next time.

                        Busy day at work today........Installed the SBI12 and associated cabling. Ran it all in flexible corrugated split conduit and crimped and heat shrunk all the lugs.





                        Was going to run it over the plastic shroud above the radiator but ended up removing it and running it underneath the shroud, cable tying it to the existing loom. Looks nice and tidy and happy with the result!!



                        Tomorrow's job.......12v Auxillary to the rear to keep the beers cold for next weeks camping trip up the high country.
