They offer free delivery and their customer service (at their Pooraka store anyway) has been nothing short of excellent.
I had one minor problem with the 12v cord, the socket kept working its way loose. Evakool replaced it no questions asked and I even got to keep the old one. The fridge is awesome......

I just had a look at the Travel Mate fridges on that site and they look exactly like the ones Techni-Ice is selling, might be an option also :-

Just checked out the fridges Fido was looking at. Honestly, you can't go wrong really when there is a 2 year warranty. BUT what is the after sales service like with this mob?

I just got myself an evakool RV80 from BCF. The special just started today, $1199 for an RV80 and a 1kv Geni. I aslo got them to throw in a travel bag at half price. I just couldn't walk away without it. 2yr warranty on both.

Th RV60 also comes with the geni and is $999.

                Hi All,

I know this will be classed as a double post however as Taz Devil Said you need to look at the current draw as well.

                "Original Response/Post"

I can only say from experience, I have an Evakool Fridgemate 55ltr and had it now for 6 years with little trouble. It can run as either fridge or freezer by removing the divider. It can also run in combination being a Fridge and Freezer.

I have recently done a 5 day trip with the ambient temp at 40 dec at times and running it on both the eco setting and normal settings, the freezer did not drop below -8.9 dec and the fridge was got no hotter than +2.7 dec or better. ( Nothing got hot or spoilt over this period)

Overall it is dependent on how many people you need to look after, I carried enough frozen food and other, for the five days with little trouble for 2 - 4 people. If I was to buy another fridge I'd probably by a 95ltr Evakool Fridgemate for that longer trip.

The original reason I bought this fridge freezer combo was the efficiencies compared with others that were available then. I will not get into the debate of whether one manufactures fridge/freezer is better than an others, because that is each ones own opinion.

Have a look at their website and have look at their products. http://www.evakool.com.au/home

I can recommend the Evakool Fridgemate fridge and freezer combo, just from my experiences, but as they say each to their own.

One thing to remember and a lot of people will not tell you this, air will kill a fridges (also Eskies) capacity to run efficiently, so if you take something out e.g. drink - replace it with another. (Saying this though, just before going away tested the unit with nothing inside running full bore - the freezer got to -27.7 dec with the ambient temp no lower than 24.5dec)

"In addition to the previous reply on another thread, The Evakool running full throttle was drawing no more than 4 amps an hour, running eco about was about 2.5 amps per hour to 3.1 amp an hour. The measuring tool was a Baintech power distribution unit. It still stayed within the previously mentioned specs.

This being said a 105 amp hour fullriver agm battery mounted under the bonnet (Dual Battery/Second), with a ctek d 250s charger copped with the trip. Admit tingly driving at least 1 hour per day."

I hope this has helped a little.

Remember doing the job once and properly may save you years of heartache.

Haha... I know all about fridges crapping them selves. Engel 40ltr 2 months out of warranty- lifted it from back of car to plug into the camper trailer... It switched on but didnt cool... Blockage in the gas cooling system i was told & 700$ to fix... So i bought a 78ltr ARB- it was all good on bitumen and on the first dirt road and second day of my Cape trip that shit it self... The computrr chip that controlled the thermostat gave up the ghost... 4 weeks of no fridge- Fken spewing. But like AJ120 said, ARB gave me a new fridge when i got back and covered the cost of lost food... The new fridge is going great- but i havent been off road with it yet...

I reckon if u can only afford a cheap fridge just go for it... Even the expensive ones let u down too...

Wow, not one but two new fridges crapping themselves. Are you sure they were securely anchored in the back and not banging up and down on the drawers? I was told by supplier to use bungee type straps but I don't trust them. My fridge is held down by mini ratchet straps. And yes, a cheaper fridge is better than none if that's all you can afford, go for it. Just need to be careful of food spoilage and food poisoning with any fridge when remote.

Hey Ozpat. Yes its hard to believe isnt it! Even to this day i still shake my head and wonder Why me???

The engel had worked fine for over 2 years in the ute and the first time it was moved it simply didnt want to cool again. The gas blockage in the cooling system happened when we lifted the fridge out and the missus dropped her end down on a 45 degree angle to sit it on the ground. At the repair shop tje bloke laughed at me and showed me a good 30 engle cooling systems out in his scrap pile had replaced due to gas blockages. All these repairs wete models that were sold when the new type of gad was introduced a few years ago... Apparently this problem has now been sortrd out... Ill never buy an engle again thou..

The ARB fridge was fastened down with the ARB straps... So there is no point arguing insecure fastening there!!! And for the record when we were up the cape I personally met 3 other travellers with buggerred new ARB fridges and stories of others up the cape at the same time with same problem... No wonder ARB covered the cost of lost food, they dont need bad reviews!!!

I must say ARB more than covered my hardship and stress when it came to warranty... I walked away with a smile on my face.

Some were just crap (Lid hinges made out of so soft a metal that they melted and fell off,Compressor probs, and some that were so Noisy that you could hear them 20 feet from the car with the stereo on !!Plastic lids (kids sat on on they cracked !! Kids will be kids and i recon that all fridges should be kid tested !!.
