  • Wilco,
Mate my runner are bolted through the side wall. Using T-nuts and counter sunk allen key bolts.
As for holding it down. I used some right angle plate on the front using the seat mounting bolts ( fifth picture down in post 183). The rear I used smaller angle to the rear tie down points (no photo's). Hope this helps.

    SOL.

    • Thanks mate, the pics are well detailed, I made my drawers and need to modify as it was way too high to mount the fridge, I am learning the hard way but am enjoying the experiences. Those wheels look great, all I have done is paint the original rims black with plastidip, looks neat and when tyres wear out I may consider spending some good cash on wheels and tyres.

Just need to get it painted or powder coated. That I am not sure of. Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.

          • Nice find SOL, I have a suggestion, how about you wrap it back up and send it to me as it looks like the right colour for my car.

I didn't think that the rear bumper was different on the 2 doors.

            • GUV, Mate nice try. The two door is about 6 inch's shorter from the rear wheel back as per below photo. The angle section of the bumper bar is steeper on the two door. So not even the bumper is the same.
Kaymar only built 150 bars for 2 doors. So no chance of getting this from me.

Hey mate. Best way to go is painted. With powder coating stone chips go right back to metal and start rusting whereas painted surfaces generally chip back to the primer and are easier to touch up. The bars are normally powder coated black from factory and then painted over anyway so you've already got a good coating to start with.

                      • Whitey, Thanks for that. I know not much about paint stuff. Know any good Spray painters in Darwin?

How hard are Kaymars to fit to a Prado? Is their much work in the cutting?

                                SOL.
Where I'm working at the moment, at A & H Panelworks in Winnellie, we do a lot of ARB and TJM's painting for them, canopy's, bullbars etc. Not me though, I'm a beater not a painter!
As for fitting, I don't actually know, I've never fitted one! Be similar to fitting a bullbar I'd have thought though. Best thing for cutting plastic bumpers is an air powered hacksaw. Got to be careful though.
