  • 150 Kakadu Petrol - Fuel tank capacity

At the risk of sounding like a total noob I'm going to ask if the Kakadu has a sub-tank (mine is a late 09 model). The manual quotes a fuel tank capacity of 89L for vehicles without a sub-tank or 150L with sub-tank. I only have 1 filler nozzle yest just got 120L of fuel into the tank when filling it up today.

My 90 had 2 filler nozzle and 2 gauges hence my uncertainty, happy to be educated on the current setup.

All the 150's in Australia come with dual tanks totaling 150L, unless someone has modified the vehicle.

So how do you differentiate between the 2?

They syphon across to each other, when mine is near empty I only get 120-130 litres in, I have actually done 100 Klms after the computer got to zero until empty and still only put 140 in.

          Fido,
the fuel capacity is 150 litres - two tanks, but seemless in use and so effecively operates as one tank.
The low fuel light comes on when 20 litres left in tank - from expeprience this is very accurate.
Also the computer will advise zero range when in fact the car will run for another 150ks or so....depending on consumption and if deisel or petrol.

Thanks guys, I'm actually relieved I have the sub-tank after all, helps to cushion the wallet between petrol price cycles.

I think you've answered your own question fido666.

There's a couple of other threads on this subject, both within the general section and engine section, so check these out too. But as also answered here in this thread, your 150 has 150L of fuel. Not quite as good as a 120 series, but you 150 owners can't have everything now.

Well it could have been a dodgy petrol pump, they do exist.

A dodgy petrol pump that was 30L out? I'd be steering clear if of that place if you think that might be a reasonable margin of error for the pump!

Well I know better now but at the time I thought I only had an 89L tank, wasn't sure about the sub.
