First Tutorial post ever - Reviving a very old thread here in hopes people are still improving their 90s and this will assist.

First off, all of your comments were extremely helpful. I looked for the firewall grommet from inside the passenger side for a solid hour before admitting defeat and heading to Pradopoint. I hope the attached album will help likeminded weekend garage warriors.

Ive included all pics in the album below - upload limits were killing me!

    Summary:
    - Found the Firewall Grommet, ran cables through alongside of the seal without puncturing. Ill go back and seal this properly another weekend once the Lights, dual battery and compressor are installed.
    - Connected directly to the battery so as to use when the car is turned off
    - Mounted Aerial and ran cable into cabin
    - Removed ashtray and bracket, installed UHF in its place. I had to remove the entire faceplate and trim some plastic so the bolts holding the UHF into the bracket could be tightened. I couldn't mount the bracket (top mount) AND have the UHF secured at the same time, was an either or...out came the sharp tools.
    - Installed the Mic clip
    - Put it all back together

    Equipment:
Bullbar Mounting Bracket from Supercheap (same as this https://www.telcoantennas.com.au/sit...unting-bracket)
GME TX 3100 from Prestige Communications (http://www.prestigecom.net.au/gme-el...channel-uhf-cb)
    AerPro CBA2T1 UHF 4.5 DBI Aerial (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...ecommendations)

Hey mate, Im doing the exact same thing right now! Your post has been very helpful so far. Thanks!

I'm struggling to remove the centre console to get better access for mounting the UHF, could you please explain how you do this?

      Cheers mate!

        Which centre console?

Stereo surround? Pull out the ashtray and pull from the bottom upwards. A small flat blade screw driver may help remove the plugs.

Gear shift surround? Start from the back and just lever it up from left to right.

Elz - RanJ has it covered here. When putting the Stereo surround back make sure to check the AC Vents are properly attached. Mine always come out of their snap hooks when I take this piece off, messing the alignment up when you put it back on.

For the Gear Shift surround, there is a tab on the back side closest to the 2nd row seating where the center console box hooks into it. I managed to get it out fine but ended up exerting too much force when I put it back together and broke it. Still works fine as its screwed down.

          Good luck!

Thanks guys, I managed to get the UHF mounted in the space vacated by the ashtray without removing either console. It was pretty tricky but with abit of trial and error, I managed it!

Really pleased with the result. Annoyingly I didn't have any terminals to terminate the power cable so it's still not hooked up. Role on Saturday when I can get to the shops and finish the job.

Those tips will come in handy when I need to mount some switches to the gear shift console. Appreciate it!
