  • Tasmania GTG 2015???

There was some banter at the 2012 GTG about when is Tasmania going to hold the GTG. What started as a joke did gain some traction by the end of the week with some interested parties showing some support.

It was thought that the limiting factor for a Tasmanian GTG was the cost of the boat trip to get to the state. It was pointed out that with enough lead time for people to save up that it could just happen.

Now I am not trying to take away from the Victorian 2014 GTG but I was just wondering how much support there is out there for a Tasmania GTG 2015?

Not sure if a poll needs to be done or just repling to this message with your expression of interest would be enough.

A meeting was held by the Tassie members who did attend the 2012 GTG and after not getting to much out of two of the members, it was decided by the other two that a committee would need to be set up from other members in Tasmania. So if you are from Tasmania and might be interested in helping orgainise a GTG drop me a PM and we can take it from there

    +++ Bring it on, Vaughan!

This will probably be my first time visiting Tasmania (I'm ashamed to admit), and what an ideal way to see the state.

2015 is obviously a long way off an who knows where life will be at by then, but I would certainly be keen on heading back to Tassie. A long lead time means plenty of time to plan and save for the boat ride.

Getting to the GTG would be a hoot with a large number of PPers all on the boat together heading across to the South Island.

You will definately need to ring in few others to help though.

      Cheers Andrew

I will love to go back to New Zealand's South island... I mean Tassie!

2015 would suit us perfect. Will have to bring some wine across too I am sure!

I would also be keen to head to Tassie for a second time (even though the first time was only for 3 days)

It would be a great opportunity to see the whole state.

          Great Idea,

          Cheers,

          Jeff

Yep, Lea is super keen so it matters not what I want. Those attendees at the 2012 GTG now know I have no real say anyway.

I hear thee will be a "yet to be determined deposit" which includes 1 case of a certain wine per car.

I think Feburary is the best time, away from school holidays, but nice weather.

Interested in a tassie trip in 2015. I've never been down there before, although I have visited northern Tasmania (aka Victoria) on numerous occasions!

At the SA GTG we talked about how a Tassie GTG might not get a big turnout due to the cost of the boat trip across. The more I think about the more I think a lot of people who in the past have not gone to Tassie due to the cost; might see this as a great trip, see Tassie and have a ball at the GTG at the same time!

For those that haven't been to Tassie, put this one on your list. It really is one of Australias true wonders.

                      Cheers Andrew

I'm booked for Feb 2013 and the cost is $400.00 for the Prado, the other couple going have a Landcruiser trayback with a camper and their cost is $900.00, they rape and pillage for camper trailers and caravans.

                        See ya in Tassie. Richo.
PS; We are going for 4 weeks so I'm sure I will be able to suggest some sopts.

I think if there is going to be a GTG in Tassie it better be as soon as possible. The way they are closing tracks, especially on the west coast it will just be black top touring. Last count I think about 52 of 90 plus tracks have been closed.

Honey Mooned for two weeks around the Great Island back in 2001. The stay was to short But the Sentence still Remains.

Gee they certainly bend you over backwards for a camper. An extra $500, what a joke.
A tazzy GTG sounds like a great opportunity to finally visit the island and yes at least 2015 gives plenty of time to plan & save.
