Looking at getting a nudge on the new Prado when it arrives. Thought I would start a thread to help others decide which bar to get.

    Post your pics here...

The Crystal Pearl one 3 down from the 1st post looks the best IMHO

      But I'm biased

And for those that are interested, This Nudge Bar does not affect the front parking sensors.

a good thread folks, for those interested in gettinga nudge bar its great to see some of the options.
Another consideration for choice of nudge bar is the manner in which it attaches to the vehicle, and also if it provides some sort of protection to the lower part of the radiator area.

Some nudge bars seem to attached via substanial brackets cut through some plastic grille in the bumper bar, requiring some cutting, whereas others don't seem to need a much cutting, if any, however the mount is not as substancial. Any thoughts or comments?

The TJM Low Loop Nudge on my car is mainly attached through the small black grille just under the number plate, but it is also connected to the chassis at the bottom of the nudge bar for extra support and stability.
It is actually attached quite firmly to the vehicle. I hardly notice any vibration on the LightForce Spotties.

                Cheers,

                Jeff

My current bar is an AMA style, like the one above (pic 7) and only mounts to the chassis rail. It is quite solid and has no noticeable vibration either. My preference would be like Jeffers bar with 4 mounting point to add strength though.

Hey guys good timing with this thread as we're looking to buy our 1st Prado & not only are we stuck on which model (between the top 3) to buy but... on top of that we are trying to decide between a full bull bar, nudge or nothing.

I've only ever hit 1 roo albeit up north in the Western Australian bush so maybe finding it hard to justify a $3k bull bar but at around $800 for a nudge that also seems quite steep if all its going to do is hold my spotties. Do most people who fit nudge bars do so primarily as a place to mount spotties or do they really offer a much greater degree of protection rather than nothing at all? I can really appreciate the aesthetic value of them & actually like the look of the one as posted by VeeZeeSS & some of the others.

Has anyone found that they interfere with any of the parking sensors, cameras or like accessories on any of the Prado range?

Has anyone done any more than just a love tap in the supermarket car park? What kind of force can they actually sustain before other body/engine front damage occurs? Having been in Europe recently & seen how some of their drivers create a car park space by squeezing into tiny gap by reversing or pushing into the adjacent parked cars using nothing more than their bumpers was amazing. There was usually no evidence of these pushes except for maybe some tyre skid marks where the moved car had left its hand brake on or maybe a small scuff on the bumper. A panel beater recently told me that the flex in the bumper allows it to take a lot of this type of abuse without problem & that it would also absorb the impact better rather than a rigid device such as a bull or nudge bar in a bigger collision.

                              Hi Vic,

Main reason for the bar is for mounting of lights, antennas, aesthetics and protection from small bumps in the front. I have had times where people have backed into my car at shopping centres and only hit the nudge. It does not effect the parking sensors at all. I know Jeffers (TJM bar) and I (ECB bar) have bars that are designed with the 4 front sensors in mind.

Here is a pic of the mounting design on the ECB bar. It is a very thick bar and gauge and feels heavier than some other brands I looked at.

Here you can see how I have tucked it up as high as possible. I have relied on the bar a few times to save me hitting the front bar and loosing paint.

It is very solid and does not vibrate/bounce around like the bullbar on my 120 Prado.

                              Just my 2 cents.
