  • Geoff's V6 Altitude

So here’s my car, a 2012 Altitude V6 in Pearl White.
It took awhile to get it, was tossing between a different models, petrol vs. diesel.

Had it fitted with Front window tint, UV to the rear windows, Toyota Tow Bar and carpet floor mats.

Picked it up with 17Kms on the clock from Midland Toyota, then had to wait to clock up the 1st 1000kms so i could take it off road.

Had it a few weeks now, and slowly doing a few things to it. Gotta say how much of an improvement from my last 2 4x4's. a Colarado and a LN106 HILUX. Only quickly tried it out in some sand out at Gnangara, and very happy with how it performs, plus too my other 2 4x4s were diesel, gotta love the V6 power!

    THINGS DONE SO FAR:

    PP Sticker,
    Brains Transfer Guard,
    Front Recovery Points,
    Recovery Hitch for Tow Bar,

Then I fitted Brains 150 Transfer Guard. Excellent bit of gear, gives some nice protection for the plastic box.

Recommend this for anyone who doesn't already have some protection

I hunted around for a sticker, no one seemed to have one, that they wanted to part with anyway,
But found out Wozclean is printing them, so ordered a few from him.

Next job was some recovery points, for pulling RRer's out of sticky spots:-),

Went with the ones from Everything4wd - ebay - that are similar to the Outback Ideas ones.

They supply 2 HT bolts and fixings for each, but only need 1 of the fixings if doing the standard 2 point fitting, so i got an extra bolt for the 3rd hole thats drilled into it.

Mounted them up, slide the fixings up inside the chassis, pretty easy job, both done in about an hour,
mostly waiting for the rust oil to dry from touching up the drilled holes in the chassis

Pulled my older ARB air compressor from my old Hilux, still works fine.
Bought a cheap battery tray from Supercheap, cut it in half, drilled a few extra holes, fitted some absorption foam to the underside of the battery tray, and the mount of the compressor, bolted it all together.

Installed a fuse box on top of the cars fuse box, used some short S/S screws with lock washers, ran power from the battery, wired up the compressor. Rang the cable across the front, in front of the radiator.

Next job was to add some light to the engine bay, just in case it’s needed, hopefully just to find the air compressor when pumping up in the dark.

A picture of the compressor mounted behind the drivers headlight. Ive put it there for now,
I'm hoping Wooley gets the bracket made up so it can get moved against the firewall passenger side,
then it will be out of the way for the second battery.

Todays job was to cut a cigarette socket in above the sunglass holder, for power to run my car DVR mounted to the windscreen.

Bit fiddly, sorting out the correct wire to tap into, and make it all nice and neat.

Makes it much neater, now i don't have the power cable dangling down the centre console.

it will look much better when i get a decent quality camera to mount there.
                        Anyones recommendations appreciated.

Just two pics of the under bonnet lights i fitted, showing how much light they give off.

Not bad for $4 each, they're just 2x white LED side marker lights.
