  • What's the fishing like at Beachport?

Will we have time? Should I bring a beach rod or will get get ripped off by a tree earlier in the trip
    Cheers, Leon

If you stay for a day or two longer it would be worthwhile.

I think the rod will survive and the "scrub" parts are more when we are camp based rather than when in transit such as the border track.

May even wet a line with you

If you don't get bogged and others do you might have some time to kill Plenty of people go fishing down that way, but not being a fisher myself not sure about this time of year.

I suspect our days will already be pretty full, and hopefully everyone has had so much action by the time we make Beachport that looking for something else to do will be the last thing on their minds.

      Cheers Andrew

Snaga - I'm a bit of a fisherman when time permits, and I'm not taking anything in the way of rods etc. The beaches there are excellent for Mulloway and the like, and Salmon Hole is just that. It's either an empty hole, or full of salmon You could wet a line in the evenings if you like or at a lunch stop (if on the beach). Up to you really. Note though, you'll need some heavy lead as the tides are moving a reasonable amount both days, and they are SURF beaches most the time.

Everyone seems to overlook the fact that Snaga can extend his stay in the serene surrounds of Beachport. After all he has an intimate relationship with his boss.

Love hate relationship with my boss
Sometimes he can be a real prick and this is one of those times... he's telling me I must be back in Brisbane no later than Oct 9. Something about money doesn't grow in trees
So, I'll leave the beach rod at home... leave the fishing for Straddie or Bribie next time.

Bring a big hook and wrap the winch rope around it and chuck it in. Maybe you could catch a great white or a humpback at this time of year.

Actually, you could use a Jap as bait.
