Has anyone figured out a way to lift a Kakadu without loosing the suspension settings & the height adjustment capability?? I do like the different settings.... and would like to keep them. Ive read numerous posts on these topics but still unclear on what you acutally loose when lifting a Kakadu...

Front 20mm-60mm spacers = no loss of function or travell plus rear "panel washer" spacers for rear self leveling sensors and all is lifted and functions as it does now.2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... Build up thread below

I did my 120 series Grande at home, the Kakadu should be the same. Just push the release to unplug the cable and secure the front plugs inside the engine bay away from moving suspension parts with cable ties. The front TEMS actuator above the strut is removed by removing the securing bolts with an allen key.
With the rear, I just unplugged them and left the rear plugs in the guards since they are already out of harms way."Sure it’s quiet, for a diesel, but that’s like being well-behaved… for a murderer."- Jeremy Clarkson

Hi there, I haven't had a chance to post this up in any of the sections or my own build up, however I've pretty much done what you're wanting to achieve replacing only the front springs and leaving the front Toyota struts and rear shocks and airbags in place. I did the work with ARB OME springs, but in unfortunately in general ARB won't do this work. It's only due to me knowing the owner of one of the local stores, he agreed to do this.
The reason I did this apart from the lift aspect was to negate the effect of the drop on the front end from the dual battery systems ARB bar, lights, etc.
Here's what we did :
- Replace Toyota springs up front with ARB/OME springs.
- Fool rear airbag sensors to raise rear.
All up have gotten at least 50mm lift all round from memory and the system still works as it did before with respect to the ride comfort and the height adjust.
We did have a bit of an issue with KDSS (which everyone does). When ARB replace the struts and springs completely they put a spacer/packer in the drivers side to offset KDSS (Toyota springs are different lengths - see other posts on this). Due to using the Toyota strut, apparently this couldn't be done. To get around this, ARB used 2 different part numbered springs (can look these up later). KDSS lean is pretty good but the passenger rear still sits up from time to time. No biggie when driving.
I did this in June and so far so good. I do want to revisit and have a bit of a look as I get a bit of a bump/clunk noise coming from the passenger rear at times going over sharp little speed bumps. Maybe something to do with the KDSS and the rear lift. Doesn't seem to happen offroad just yet.
Hope this is useful.

Hi Guys,
I had lovell springs fitted to the front only yesterday to lift post BB, lights, and battery install, rears are untouched. KDSS is leaning to the drivers side. latest meausrements FROM stock standard (i.e. no BB etc) are as follows:
FL +17mm FR 0mm RL 0mm RR -20mm
Used WA suspension in Perth. They advised they could not use spacers unless I replaced the strut i.e. Bilstein whereby they could pack it on the drivers side.
Other than doing a few thousand km's to let it settle, I am a little confused on how to addresss the lean and who to get to do the job?
Any comments are appreciated.
cheers.Bruce

Which Lovell's spring did they fit to the front? Lovells springs are going to be a problem with standard struts because they increase spring rate as you increase to a higher lift spring and ideally you need a 15-20mm longer spring on the drivers side, but at the same spring rate as the passengers side. If you want to retain the standard strut, you will need to use either OME or Dobinsons springs since they both use a fixed spring rate and vary the lengths of their springs. I know Dobinsons were doing the R&D on this, they may be worth a call.
Lovell's solution is to use their own front struts which include a 20mm spacer ring for the drivers side strut. You will lose the comfort-sport settings by changing struts. Part number for the 150 series Lovells strut is 64610087F, more information is available in the suspension database: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...nsion-Database
I suspect your suspension guy doesn't know what he's dealing with when it comes to KDSS suspension. Do a search on "KDSS lean" here and have a good read on the issue and solution.

Not to bother mention c/v/angles would be huge.....?
A small spacer might be ok, as long as you extend the bump stops the same amount.
I dont like spacers on IFS. its a good cheap option for live axles.
Or did I misunderstand something?
