Hi Guys,
I've been reading through all the posts and opinions on exhausts and chips and have probably got more questions unanswered than when I started, I never thought it would be so complicated or confusing.
I am looking at getting an exhaust for my 120 D4D manual, with the thought of getting a chip/module at a later date. I am currently leaning towards a Taipan XP 3" exhaust. Are there any issues with a 3" exhaust with clearance? Or issues with getting knocked and bent from off-road driving??
Because I will probably be getting a chip later, I figure I should go the 3". Does anyone have any argument agaist this thought?
I will probably get an EGT sensor when I do the exhaust and would like it to be able to connect into the chip when I get one.
So moving on from the exhaust, what is the difference with all the chips that are available these days? From what I can get, the steinbauer and Super Diesel Smart change the injector pulse length, while the rest change the rail pressure. Is one method better than the other? and have I got this right?
I am looking at a couple of options, one being the Chipit and the other is called Super Diesel Smart. Can anyone tell me how either of them work without any sales spin? I just want to know what it does to get the improvements. I believe both of these brands have an EGT sensor which you can buy separately and then connect into the unit to help protect your engine once you install their chip/module.
Any info to try and explain things would be greatly appreciated.
