  • SE Qld Mt Tamborine trip

    Folks

Fozzy suggested a quick trip last Sunday up a track to Mt Tamborine from Nerang.
The group at Nerang, Fozzy, CraigM, Snaga and Richo.

The road up was quite easy but did have a steep section that required low range.

Then back down Wongwallen Rd which had been graded but was very dusty almost bulldust, this track must of had in excess of 50 erosion berms and was quite steep so low range was the go.

Overall a great day, great lunch and great friends.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

A good way to spend a couple of hours... By no means a strenuous drive, but an enjoyable one with a nice location at the top of the mountain (Mt Tamborine and some nice Wineries etc...) He's a few pics to add to Richo's

    Richo negotiating the creek crossing.

This is where the track ends and turns to a dirt road for approx another K which leads to the top of the Mountain. The track to the right is where we came up. Track to the left is another track back down..

Y intersection heading back down.. Decisions decisions... I headed back down on my own leaving the rest of the crew to feast on food and wine. I took the right hand option and (I think) Richo went to the left. Going on Richo's description, the track I took sounded very similar with more erosion bumps than I could count. Again, very dusty due to being graded recently, but none the less a fun drive.

    Contd next Post...

On my descent, I was passed by a few Mountain bikers who have a track running along side the road. Here's one of the little jumps beside the track..

Finally, here's a snapshot as recorded by MotionX. if anyone wants a copy, PM me and I can email it to you....

Geez I took my photos on the iphone and uploaded then via Tapatalk, not a very successful outcome me thinks, I'll have to resort to the Canon and Photobucket. We took the right hand track at the stump as well as Craig but it would be interesting to re-visit to do some of the side tracks we saw as they headed down into the valleys.

        Richo.

          Great pics guys.

I'm especially interested in that MTB trail.

Richo, I'd hope there's an option to force Tapatalk to upload pics at a specified resolution (say 800x600 or 1024x768).

That's the best resolution available, however I could have uploaded using the photobucket app and then linked which is what I will do in the future.

Mate theres a bevy of wineries on the hill. Also at eagle Heights is the Gallery walk which on the weekend is chockas with visitors walking up and down the street checking out the various galleries, shops, restaurants etc... At the main Roundabout there is a Micro Brewery (yum) And driving along the top of the range heading Sth you will pass loads of b&b's, nurseries with cafe's etc.. Also there is a great pub up there with an outdoor area with panoramic views to the Goldie called St Bernard Hotel. The pub lunches are great.

I've been hiking some of the tracks I ride ('11 Yeti 575 much customised) and I am stunned what I miss when I ride! Some really good tracks out our way. Nebo is hard work, well it is for me.

Craig thanks for the track info.

Hi Craig, Thanks for the info. I have visited a couple of them up there in the past but I didn't know about the micro brewery.

Craig, Fancy running into to you up there.....
We ended up at the Mt Beer and last night was working my way through all their beers ( after driving of course)
Rainforest Larger was better than I expected.
Cuvee Belgian Blonde, was just like drinking a Leffe Blond. Suprising
Moderation Golden Ale, was very american pale ale in its taste

While I was there, in drove an Aston Martin One77. To say these are rare is an understatement. There is only 1 in all of Australia (and only 77 in the world) and worth nearly $3 million each. It sounded like thunder from the heavens and amazingly beautiful in the flesh....

                              Found this link.
