A343F transmission issue

Hi everyone,
I have the A343F in my 90 series Prado (1KZ-TE) and am having problems with my speed sensor.
The speedometer needle goes bizerk and the shifting then follows, I can feel the erratic up and down shifts (even when stationary, if I put it in D and the needle jumps I am hear and feel something going on in transmission)

Wanted to know where the speed sensor is located on the transmission and if it can be addressed without removing the whole unit.

Would appreciate help from others too as its the same transmission that comes in the 80 series.

The speed sensor is located on the side of the transmission. Requires quite a large spanner to remove it
