  • 120 fuel Tank protection???

I did a search on this, nothing came up,
It seems the middle fuel tank is the lowest point on breakover.
Also it seems to drag, and cop a bit of punishment on the tracks....
Now and then i have damaged the rear also.

I understand both the tanks have a (token gesture) tank gaurd and they do an ok job for what they are.
I do remove, panelbeat, paint and refit them..... but one day is the rock going to be too big?
I dont really want to be stuck with a holed fuel tank, anyone else thought of this?
has anyone changed them to another aftermarket brand?
Or had some made? Perhaps strenthened the existing tank gaurds?

    Any feedback be good ta.....

I actually put a hole in my rear fuel tank on my first Prado, had a stone between the gaurd and the tank and it wore a hole through going across the Tanami, I noticed it after I put 170lts of diesel in at over $2 a litre not a lot of fun let me tell you. Anyway the moral of that story is I now check regualrly for anything jammed in between the gaurd and the tank.

The front tank is actually plastic, not sure if this makes it more or less vunerable to damage, I know my gaurd has plenty of dents in it, but fortunately no damage.

The only replacemnt for the front tank gaurd I can recall seeing is in this thread http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ndina-(Brasil) custom made in Brasil, bloody nice job from memory!

    Cheers Andrew

Ever thought of driving a little more carefully, pick your line better, think about avoiding damage and do you really need to scale that big rock?

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.
