The switches arrived today. I've quickly swapped out my old switch to see what the lighting of the switch is like. It looks pretty good. On certain switch designs where there is a graphic with text underneath for the green LED and then a bar for the red LED, the text is not as well lit as the graphic by the green LED. However you can still see that the text has been lit.

Now I need to find the dash lights so that the green LED is on when the headlights are on. Any ideas?

The Install of ARB On=Board Compressor thread comes to mind as it discusses sourcing an illumination feed for the Compressor switch Here(4.1 - Illumination Power - Green Wire)

Cheers Craig. I can't see the green wire but can see the ignition and accessory wire. Will have a closer look.

If i get a chance this arvo or tomorrow i'll go hunt for it, since i'll need it too....

....plus, when i replaced my stereo the auto dimming feature of my screen isn't working, so must have missed the wire for that... i'm hoping/guessing i should be able to pull the illumination wire from there (the stereo wiring) ... or maybe the ashtray light? or is that always on?

I've found the wire that controls the dash lights for those who have the V6. D4D owners can use the idle up switch as per the air compressor thread craigm linked to. Not sure if it also applies to 1KZ owners.

After reading jhiace's rig build up, I asked him where he tapped the dashlights from and he gave me a few leads. On the right hand switch cluster, there is a dimmer switch to control the intensity of the instrument cluster. At the back of it is a connector with the pins going vertically. There are 2 green wires there and the one you need is the one WITHOUT the red trace. It is the one at the bottom of the connector. Refer to attached pic. It's the one I have separated out from the rest.

Installed the new switch from amts today (thanks mate!). This switch replaces the original IPF mouse switch that currently sits on the dash panel panel to the left of the steering column (below the 2nd Start Button). I wanted the new Contura Driving light switch on the main switch pane and took the opportunity to rearrange my switches as I have never been happy with the location of my ARB Carling Compressor switch mainly due to the fact that I occasionally knock my knee on the switch when jumping in the seat. I decided that I would turn the panel upside down so that the Mirror control was at the bottom and have the four switches available on the top row.

              How it is currently

I needed to get the file out, as the Mirror switch hole requires reshaping due to one edge of the switch being a different shape, along with the Top left hand corner of the switch Panel hole requiring some work also (gotta get me a Dremel...)

Everything fits in nice"n" snug again and I'm much happier with the end result, I now have the toggle switches up out of the way from the right knee and room to the right of my Compressor switch for the Front and Rear Locker switches. (yeh right, as if I'd get that past the SWMBO!!!)
I will probably look at changing the compressor switch out sometime for a Contura matching one though to tidy it up..

Bumping this thread. I'm about to order a bulk order from Ottratw for the sand flag switches to go with the Mine Spec flags
